MEDIA RELEASE March 2015 Le Masurier become JCG Foundation Corporate Partner supporting the local section of Building the Future, Shaping our World global female engineering competition Le Masurier is the latest business to join the JCG Foundation as a corporate partner. ‘We are delighted to partner with the JCG Foundation to support Rachel’s inspiring competition, commented Brian McCarthy, Managing Director, Le Masurier. ‘The JCG Foundation Corporate Partner programme provides us with a great vehicle to financially support not just JCG but female local students with an interest in construction, property and engineering. We are keen to offer opportunities for us to provide work experience, internships and mentoring to local students. We very much look forward to using our partnership with the JCG Foundation to cement a strong relationship between JCG and Le Masurier to achieve our aspirations for Island students.’ Building the Future, Shaping our World is a global female engineering competition being run by Rachel Hayden, a year 12 student at Jersey College for Girls, through the International Women’s Academy (IWA) to promote women in engineering. With the help of a fellow student, the competition is being launched on Wednesday 7 th January 2015 and will run until Friday 20th March 2015.

“After being first introduced to engineering through a local CIGPE competition I felt that running a female engineering competition not just locally but globally, would be a fun and exciting way to promote the engineering industry to women around the world” commented Rachel Hayden. The competition is split into two sections. The Jersey competition sponsored by Le Masurier, is open to female individuals or teams up to 4 people, aged 13-18, who currently live in the island. The task is to design a sports venue for the derelict Fort Regent site. The winning team will receive four Ipad mini 3’s and four tickets to the opening ceremony of the Jersey Island Games 2015, will present their design to the States Assembly and enter the global competition. However all entries will be displayed as part of the Jersey Island Games 2015. All entries will be marked by a panel of judges which consists of the Jersey Chief Minister Ian Gorst, Dr Jon Hare an Engineering Professor at the University of Southampton, John Rogers the Head of Transport and Technical Services, Becky Slater a Civil Engineer at Arup, Brian McCarthy, Managing Director, Le Masurier and Steven Bailey the Games Director of Jersey Island Games 2015.
