Sketchbooks Among Mr. Hinkle’s greatest passions - as is with many architects - is sketching. Throughout his college years, his sketchbooks accompanied him everywhere. Upon his graduation from Syracuse University, his curious explorations in ink and paper were concentrated on his passion for restaurant design. Through a series of perspectives and architectural diagrams, he documented the work of many architects to whom he admired.
PROJECTS Vinty MAS DEVELOPMENT GROUP
In collaboration with SAL GARCIA Rendering produced using SketchUp, & Lumion
Vinty is a mixed use project located within the historic redevelopment district of Elizabeth, New Jersey. It is the 1st of a 5 transit oriented developments meant to activate pedestrian and community activity surrounding the Elizabeth Train Station. The program includes street-level retail, a food court, a restaurant, 267 apartment units and accompanying courtyard and amenity spaces. Mr. Hinkle was hired as a consultant by the developer to produce a 3D model to create still images and animations which successfully communicated the project to investors and future tenants. By enabling the client to clearly show the design for this project, funding was fully acquired, construction has began, and the initial success is being published as it is in the winter 2019 issue of DDC Journal.

HARBOR ISLAND CMA DESIGN STUDIO
In collaboration with JOSE-MIGUEL SILVA Renderings produced using Lumion & Photoshop
Harbor Island was a resort development consisting of over 20 buildings across 12 acres of land located in Governor’s Island, The Bahamas. In order to create a compelling set of visualizations for the entire resort complex, the 3D models needed to be broken up into a series of smaller , individual files, then re-grouped inside a “render model.” By authoring specific procedures to accurately divide, and re-aggregate the 3D models, Mr. Hinkle was able to generate renderings that captured high resolution visualizations of the entire development without compromising computer processing time (a crucial asset for the project’s short deadlines). The high level of control over detail paired with a background of the true-modeled context made this series of renderings particularly enjoyable.

VILLA VALENCIA CMA DESIGN STUDIO
In collaboration with CESAR MOLINA & JOSE-MIGUEL SILVA Renderings produced using Lumion & Photoshop
Villa Valencia was a 13 story luxury condominium tower located in Coral Gables, Florida. Mr. Hinkle was tasked with generating exterior and interior visualizations that kept pace with the design process, while maintaining very tight weekly deadlines. Schematic to Design Development renderings were produced within a period of less then 2 months. Moreover, the project proved to require a different approach to model organization than previously explored single building, or multi-building developments. Mr. Hinkle was able to both manage and deliver the project’s visualizations by documenting the overarching organization of 3D models, communicating concepts through diagrams, and strategizing with the design team. The visualizations successfully sold the project.

Renderings produced using Lumion & Photoshop Creating visualizations with speed and accuracy has led Mr. Hinkle to serve as a consultant to developers seeking to communicate their projects. By creating 3D representations of potential developments within the given site and context, approval can be given, funds can be raised, and design intent can be communicated clearly from the start.
LIFE, LEARNING, ARCHITECTURE Architects In the Making Because architectural education played such a meaningful role in the life of Mr. Hinkle, giving back through teaching has become a recent passion of his. During the summer, he leads high-school and early college students as a senior counselor for a youth architecture summer camp. AIA Miami’s “Architects In the Making” has been a wonderful opportunity to teach and inspire kids to pursue a career in architecture
Life & Education Mr. Hinkle is Miami native, former DASH Student, Syracuse School of Architecture alumni, Wynwood admirer, Miami Design District enthusiast, avid runner, and a soon-tobe-licensed architect that is 150% on the hunt for a firm where he can become the architect that the 12-year-old him wanted to be when he grew up!
