Cheryl Ekstrom & JD Hansen began collaborating for the first time in May of 2012, merging their impressive talents to create work that is bold, breathtaking and prolific. By July 2012, they had produced life size clay models for five bronzes plus an additional table top piece. Both sculptors enjoy solo careers that are successful, with large scale works installed around the world. Their merging together happened spontaneously. Neither had considered working with another artist, but what started as, “Let’s

make something together,

turned into six bold life size mythological figures in a matter of three months.

Post War Dance “Post War Dance is the depiction of creatures emerging from a long, dark period of war. The celebration is for life as well as death. The figures are in the process of shedding their smooth armor, revealing the textured scars that make them beautiful and alive. Used as a metaphor for life, they are declaring that true beauty emerges from pain and loss, from those indelible marks that create a patina on our souls.

The sculptures are in an edition of 7. 3
