2 Achievements/Impact of Mission 2-1 We met the past JCI Officer and past JCI members. They shared the experience of JCI to us and commit to support JCI movement in Guam. 2-2 We held the seminar to introduce JCI to young active citizen in Guam. Many potential members are excited to have JCI in Guam after the seminar. 2-3 We shared the experience of JCI with the potential members and helped them to image how JCI works in other countries. 3 Strength of NOM 3-1 Many young people in Guam have good income compared to most other area of Asia. 3-2 The 1978 JCI World President Mr. Carl PETERSON has great impact in Guam. Young citizens who want to start a new business in Guam after graduated from university normally will seek the investment from Mr. Carl PETERSON. 3-3 English is Guam’s language. There will be no language barrier to access JCI. 3-4 The other organizations for young people in Guam don’t have the international resource as JCI.
Ongoing or Potential Problem of NOM
1 There are some other organizations for young people in Guam already.
It might have conflict while recruiting the membership. 2 Guam in a well developed area. It might be not easy to find some way to hold the projects which can impact communities. 3 The population basis in Guam is not so big for recruiting the membership. 4 The western culture in Guam makes the millennium generation influence stronger than other area of Asia.
Suggestions for Next Step Actions
1 Help to set up new chapters in Guam to create impact there. 2 Use the advantage of JCI international opportunities to recruit membership form other young organizations. 3 According the language advantage in Guam, we will encourage the young active citizens in Guam to take the trainings in JCI to become
JCI trainers and commit them by training others. 4 Keep connect with the past JCI officers and members who have great impact in Guam to create sustainable impact. 5 Use the international resources of JCI to develop some international projects such as youth exchange program.
Remarks
It is our honor to meet past JCI officers in Guam. We learn more about the JCI movement in Guam. Guam is one part of United States, but the location is far away from American. They also advised us it will be more realistic for Guam to develop as JCI Pacific gathering with other islands nearby. There are some young organizations in Guam, but JCI have more international resource than others. That provides more competition for JCI to develop in Guam. We saw the possibility for the JCI movement in Guam on the face of qualify potential members. But we still need to consider carefully the difference between western and eastern culture and the influence of the millennium generation. With the language advantage and the commit people there, we believe that JCI movement in Guam can progress very well and serve for JCI a lot as providing the trainers. Thanks for supporting and organizing to friends in Guam.
