HONORING Tom Korman & North Shore Auxiliary

June 23, 2013

Tom Korman Irving B. Harris Leadership Award Jewish Child & Family Services is proud to present the Irving B. Harris Leadership Award to Tom Korman. Tom, a partner at Gould and Ratner, has worked in the business, financial and tax planning field for more than 30 years and is also a Certified Public Accountant. Tom has been recognized as Illinois Super Lawyer from 2006 through 2012 and has been recognized as an Illinois Leading Lawyer for 2010 and 2011 in the areas of Closely & Privately Held Business Law, Business Tax Law and Individual Tax Law by the Leading Lawyers Network. A respected past president of JCFS, Tom has shown his passion for helping others well beyond the board room. He and his wife Marcia served our community as foster parents for over 30 youth and continue to tutor, distribute coats to needy Chicago school children and volunteer wherever help is most needed. In addition, he has received the Daddy Long Legs Award from the Northlight Theater, bestowed upon someone who possesses a spirit of generosity and a dedication to bettering the lives of others.

North Shore Auxiliary What’s Possible Award Founded over 80 years ago, North Shore Auxiliary of Jewish Child & Family Services continues to support a comprehensive spectrum of services to troubled children and their families regardless of religion or background. Through their dedicated group of volunteers, they are able to fund a wide range of JCFS programs including: • Therapeutic High School for teenagers with severe emotional, behavioral and learning problems. • Take-Five Respite Program providing a much needed weekend away for families with children with disabilities.

• Psychotherapy and socialization groups for troubled children and their parents.

• Outreach to local pre-schools.

• Diagnostic and treatment services to preschool and elementary school children who are at risk for developmental delays.

• Connections Program at Highland Park High School– a wellness-based support program.

message from the chairman A number of thank you’s and congratulations are in order. Thank you for your support of Jewish Child & Family Services (JCFS) and for joining us at A Striking Event. Today we celebrate our devoted leaders, financial supporters, service providers and most importantly, the children and families of our community. By being a part of this event, you help us to continue providing vital services throughout Chicago. We are pleased to have the opportunity to honor some incredible community leaders: Thomas A. Korman, recipient of the Irving B. Harris Leadership Award, and North Shore Auxiliary, the recipient of our What’s Possible Award. The dedication of these honorees to improving lives makes it easy to see why they were chosen for such high honors. Congratulations to each of the recipients. A special thank you to our 2013 honorary and event committees, as well as the entire JCFS Board of Directors. This event would not be as successful or even possible without your hard work and generosity. Lastly, thank you to our benefit co-chairs, Milt Zimmerman and Abby Strauss. Your leadership, energy and dedication are certainly evident to everyone here tonight. On behalf of the Board and the children and families served by JCFS, thank you to both of you for all of your hard work. Thank you again for your support and for making this year’s benefit a huge success.

–H. Debra Levin JCFS Board Chairman
