Athletics

The pursuit of excellence is evident in Johnson County Community College intercollegiate athletics. JCCC Athletics is regarded throughout the region and nation as a first-class program and regularly ranks among the top of the national rankings. JCCC’s great tradition was validated in 2007-08 as JCCC was honored as the 2008 winner of the NATYCAA (National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators) Cup trophy in the Scholarship Division, a program recognizing program excellence in two-year college athletics at the national level. JCCC has finished in the top 10 in 10 of 13 years, and among the top three five times, including its one cup championship. JCCC is proud of its great tradition and boasts one of the best coaching staffs in the country. In addition to producing great teams, the JCCC coaches produce quality individuals. The coaches demand their athletes strive to be the best they can be not only within the realm of their sport but also in the classroom. JCCC’s commitment to developing a well-rounded athlete has paid dividends over the history of the program. JCCC teams have collected 178 conference titles, eight sub-regional titles, 137 region titles, 11 national championships and have finished among the top-five nationally on 94 occasions. Individually, JCCC has produced more than 1,000 NJCAA AllAmerican athletes and 61 national champions. Also, 50 to 60 percent of the student-athletes at JCCC maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or better. JCCC’s intercollegiate athletics program competes on both the NJCAA Division I and II levels and is an East Jayhawk Conference and Region VI member. The college offers 15 varsity sports, including baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s half marathon, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field and volleyball.

JCCC Athletics is positioned to continue the excellent programs of the past and it is anticipated that the Cavaliers will continue to be very competitive, both in the East Jayhawk Conference and in national player, for years to come.
