Your generous donation will provide scholarships for families who need assistance with membership fees. Your donation is tax-deductible, less the value of your membership. • Platinum Membership $4,800 (pays for four or more families) • Diamond Membership $3,600 (pays for three or more families) • Gold Membership $2,400 (pays for 2 single parent families) • Silver Membership $1,800 (pays for one family)

Membership Payment and Renewals

New JCC membership is based on a 12 month agreement and is automatically renewable. Membership is billed monthly and continues until notification of cancellation is received. To cancel your membership, a written or email notice to the Membership Director (membership@ must be submitted at least 30-days in advance and an online exit interview survey must be completed. Membership is not transferable or refundable and participation in physical conditioning and recreational programs is at member’s own risk. Couple, Single/Single Parent, Young Adult and Sponsoring memberships entitle members to year-round use of the fitness and aquatics facility, plus reduced fees for courses and programs. Social memberships entitle you to reduced fees for courses and programs. Families who register their child for the 2014-2015 preschool year must be members of the JCC during the entire school year. A one year membership is required.

Introduce the people in your life to the J and get a $50 gift card!* (*Subject to a new member signing a one year contract.) Class & Program Registration Full payment must accompany all registration for classes and programs. Only members in good standing (current in dues payments for the duration of the program) can register or receive membersonly discounts. Fees may be paid in person, on-line, by mail or telephone. To register over the telephone call (949) 435-3400 and ask for Program Registration. You may pay by Visa, MasterCard or American Express. The JCC reserves the right to cancel any class for insufficient registration. Participants will be notified as soon as possible and their fees refunded. Some classes may be open to members only. If you are not a member you may register for classes where specified at the public rate.

General Information Member I.D. Cards: I.D. cards identify you as a JCC member and grant you access to designated areas of the building. You must wear your I.D. badge at all times while in the building. Lost cards will be replaced for a $15 charge.

Refund Policy

There are no refunds for membership, camp, or preschool. For classes the following schedule applies: A full refund if the JCC cancels a class; a full refund minus a $10 administrative fee for withdrawals before class begins; a 50% refund for withdrawal at the end of the first class; no refunds are given after the second class begins. There is a $25 charge for returned checks.

Financial Adjustments

Scholarship memberships are awarded for day care, preschool, summer camp and the Club J afterschool program only. No one is denied JCC membership due to inability to pay. Preschool Enrichments, Ages 3-5 SPRING SESSION 1: FEB. 24-APRIL 11, 2014 MONDAY CLASSES, AGES 3-5 Indoor/Outdoor Soccer, Ages 4+ Mondays, 1:15-2 p.m. Members only $140 Gymnasium and Sport Field, Max. 20 Your child will learn soccer fundamentals including dribbling, shooting, passing, offensive and defensive strategy. Our coaches keep kids busy and on the move with fun and interactive games that promote balance, coordination, agility and running. Instructor: Coaches Mike, Marianne & Staff Little Rembrandts: Painting Day at the J, Ages 3-5 Mondays, 1:15-2 p.m. $140 members, $160 public In a creative environment, young artists create their own masterpieces using a variety of paint media. Art, especially drawing, painting and clay work, helps kids develop fine motor skills and teaches them to problem solve. All materials provided.



Little Rembrandts Arts, Crafts, Jewels and more, Ages 3-5 Mondays, 1:15-2 p.m. $140 members, $160 public Did you know that children develop life skills through art activities? Art may seem like fun and games (and it is) but your child is actually learning a lot about shapes, colors, and different media. In this class kids get to play with clay, make jewelry, build super cool mobiles and more. All materials provided. Storybook Sports Ages 3-5 Tuesdays, 1:15-2 p.m. Members only $140 Gymnasium and Sport Field, Max. 20 Your child can explore sports and literature by reading stories about different sports and their favorite athletes. Then they’ll play different sports including soccer, basketball, hockey, baseball, football and more. Includes warm ups, stretching and development of teamwork and sportsmanship. Fairytale Ballet, Ages 3-5 Mondays, 1:15-2 p.m.


$140 for members/$160 public Students learn ballet steps and terminology and dance to their favorite princess songs. Classes promote, flexibility, rhythm, socialization, muscle toning and creative expression. The final class is a dance performance in the theatre. Ballet shoes, tights and leotard are recommended, but not required.

Bitty Basketball Ages 3-5

TUESDAY CLASSES, AGES 3-5 Hebrew, Ages 3-5 Tuesdays, 1:15 – 2 p.m. Members only $140. In this Hebrew immersion enrichment, yeladim (students) learn conversational Hebrew by singing songs and listening to the instructor speak primarily Hebrew. Students will be introduced to the Hebrew Alef-Bet (Alphabet), learn Hebrew songs, make crafts, and even to converse in Hebrew. Instructor: Sylvia

Wednesdays, 1:15-2 p.m. Members only $140. Gymnasium. Max. 20 This class teaches skills and fundamentals of basketball including shooting, dribbling, offensive and defensive strategy, footwork, conditioning and more. Your child will participate in interactive basketball drills and games on lowered hoops. Instructor: Coaches Mike, Marianne & Staff Little Rock Stars Ages 3 - 5 Wednesdays, 1:15 – 2 p.m. $140 members only In this high energy music class, we sing and dance our way through the “Wonderful World of Animals.” As students learn about different instruments and beginning music theory, they quickly pick up the rhythms and the names of all the notes. Kids who love music and love to dance will enjoy this class that combines high energy and motivating music with easy routines designed especially for children. Little Rembrandts: Clay Day at the J, Ages 3 and Up

Hurray for Challah!, Ages 3 – 5

Thursdays, 1:15 - 2:00 $140 members, $160 public Clay is a wonderful way for a children to express themselves through f a medium that is both tactile and 3-dimensional. Kids can play on the wheel and really have some fun on clay day in this enrichment class designed to offer kids an artistic and educational experience in our super cool art studio. All materials provided.

Fridays, 1:15 – 2 p.m. Members only $140. Baking is so much fun! Baking challah makes Shabbat extra special. Each week students will bake and explore different types of challah on Friday, Shabbat. Friends will love making flavored challah, different colored challah, unusual shaped challah, and being creative with this versatile dough. Let’s all have that “Shabbat Feeling!” Instructor: Sylvia

Legos, Patterns, Blocks, Math! Ages 3-5 Thursday 1:15-2 p.m. Members only $140. Math is everywhere. Does your child love playing with Legos? Manipulating blocks into fun patterns and unique creations? Students in this class will learn the joys of sorting, organizing, counting and patterning while playing with Legos, pattern blocks, wooden blocks and other manipulatives. Let the building begin! Transportation: We are proud to offer programming to our neighborhood schools. Transportation from Newport Coast Elementary is available at an additional cost. Students will learn about and discuss Jewish culture and traditions through music and hands-on crafts. This class is sure to be a fun time for any student, whether you’re Jewish or not!   Computer Lab Grades 2-5: Monday 3:45-4:30 Computer Lab Members $116, Public $184 Students will have the opportunity to play kid-friendly computer games under the supervision of a Club J counselor. This engaging class offers a great source of exercise. Fashion & Costume Design NEW! After reading a summary of a theatrical play, students will design the costumes they would give each character in the story. Children’s After School Enrichments, K-5 TUESDAY CLASSES, GRADES K-5 Dodgeball Grades 2-5: Tuesday 3:45 – 4:30 Gym, Outside, Members Only $116 In this active fun game, students will play a fan favorite game of dodge ball. While working together to get their opponents out, children must perfect quick and short movements to help them move throughout the gym without being caught. Not only is this a great class for physical activity, but it also promotes teamwork and strategy. Bracelets and Beads NEW! Grades 2-5 Wednesday 3:45-4:30 Sport Field, Members only $116 Children will learn the very basics of football in this 45 minute enrichment period. From learning how to properly grip a football by the laces, to learning how to run an effective offense into the end-zonethis class is excellent for learning strategy techniques and team building.


Chocolate Creations

Grades K-5: Wednesday 3:45-4:30 Sr. Center, Members $116, Public $184 Come cheer with Rhythm Motion! This class is for beginning cheerleaders and for experienced cheerleaders wanting to fine tune their talents. The class includes aerobic stretches, precise arm placements, kicks, jumps, chants, and a fun cheer dance to be performed for friends and family on the last day. This class is great for exercise and making new friends.

Grades K-1: Tuesday 4:45-5:30 Outside, Members only $116 Practice Gaga skills with Club J friends. Learn the skills necessary to be the GaGa champ! Children use agility, hand/eye coordination and quick thinking in order to excel in this game. GaGa is an exciting Israeli game that teaches basic sports skills and encourages social interaction with peers. All skill levels welcome.

Grades K-1: Wednesday 3:45 – 4:30 Grades 2-5: Wednesday 4:45 – 5:30 Dressing Room Members $116, Public $184, Material Fee $25 The ancient fermented cocoa fruit was used by Aztec warriors in food, in drinks and by ancient rulers. Later, when it was brought to Europe, it became popular among ordinary people and nowadays our love for chocolate knows no bounds. Students will create simple dishes to explore the uses of this delectable sweet as they learn how chocolate is prepared and used in confectionary and baking.

In this new class, students will have the opportunity to make their very own board games! Students will have the chance to work in groups and individually to design and make their own creations. Bhuya Yoga Grades K-1: Tuesday 3:45-4:30 Grades 2-5: Tuesday 4:45-5:30 Senior Center, Members $116, Public $184 A holistic learning Program, Bhuya Yoga LLC, offers a balanced practice which focuses on Forward Bends and Standing Balances. Bhuya Yoga fosters strength building and flexibility as well as ability to focus and quiet the mind.

KidPix Studios Grades K-1: Tuesday 4:45-5:30 Material Fee $25 Computer Room, Members only $116 Class is limited to 14 students This fun class will utilize the computer lab at the JCC. Children will have the opportunity to show their creative style using the computer application KidPix where they will design multiple graphics and designs to make their own personal masterpieces.

Chess Grades 2-5: Wednesday 3:45 – 4:30 Grades K-1: Wednesday 4:45 – 5:30 Dressing Room Members $116, Public $184 Students learn the basics of playing chess, including piece movements, general rules (ranging from checkmate to stalemates), and more subtle rules of game play (such as en passant). This class is an excellent opportunity for students to challenge themselves in a friendly, yet competitive manner while developing skills in analysis, spatial perception, making fast and accurate decisions. All levels are welcome.

Young Magicians NEW! Grades K-1: Wednesday 3:45 – 4:30 Material Fee $25 Sr. Center , Members $116, Public $184 Abracadabra! This popular Club J class has reappeared, right before your very eyes! Students will learn how to make their own magic tricks before practicing how to do them and will have the opportunity to perform their tricks at showcase.

Capture the Flag Grades K-1: Wednesday 4:45-5:30 Gym, Sport Field, Members only $116 Children work together as a unit in this team-based action game where the goal is to locate and recover the opposing team’s flag before they do the same. The class promotes teamwork and strategy. Young Playwrights NEW! Grades 2-5: Wednesday 4:45-5:30 Sr. Center , Members $116, Public $184, Creative students will channel their inner Shakespeare in this fun, new class as they work together to write a play, practice their lines and design the scenery, costumes, and props that go along with the story. Grades K-5: Wednesday 4:45 – 5:30 Sr. Center, Members $116, Public $184 This is a dynamic cardio dance class filled with Hip-Hop music, easy to follow moves and a whole lot of laughs. The class begins with a fun and aerobic stretch followed by a variety of “Zumba” inspired routines which will be performed for friends and family on the last day of class. This is one big exercise dance party filled with fun. Prior dance experience not required.

The first part of class includes a fun, high-energy exercise routine. Afterwards students learn about nutrition and eat a healthy small meal or snack and a drink.

Fee $30 In this fabulous, creative class children will experiment with different materials, making paper mache animals, a puppet on a string, wind chimes, jewelry, decoupage and more.This is a perfect class for the student who loves all kinds of art.


Grades 2-5: Thursday 3:45-4:30 Gym, Outside, Members Only $116 Students will learn proper running techniques, improve physical fitness and prepare for the President’s Physical Fitness Challenge mile run. Students run at their own pace, working to improve their time throughout the course. Running shoes and water bottles required to participate.

Grades 2-5: Thursday 3:45-4:30 Grades K-1: Thursday 4:45 – 5:30 Sr. Center, Members $116, Public $184 Taught by Rhythm Motion this class presents basic ballet and jazz with a focus on correct dance technique, dance terminology and musical phrasing. Engaging music is used to inspire young dancers to use their imagination, creativity and, most of all, have fun! Creative Clay Kid Parties

This is a really cool class for kids who love all types of art. The focus is on painting, sculpture, collage and drawing techniques. Special attention is given to creative activities based on a wide variety of two-and three-dimensional projects. No experience necessary. All materials are provided. (Students are welcome to bring their own larger canvas)

The Art room at the J is the ideal place to host your child’s birthday party. Parties are customized to make them unique and special for the host and his/her friends. Merage JCC WAVES Swim Team Trains Winners JCC Spring Youth Basketball League, Grades K-8 Sundays, Mar. 23-May 4, no games 4/20 Grades K & 1: clinic/practice before each game. Grades 2-8: either a clinic/practice before each game or play a double header. Register by grade: players will be placed in the appropriate division by grade and skill level. Each team will have a coach; all practices and games take place on Sundays. Kindergarten and 1st Grade teams will be rotated so they can play with different friends and teammates. Grade 2 and up will play against other teams from the JCC and in Orange County. WAVES swimming uses a progressive age group program in which the swimmer is instructed and developed in physical, mental and emotional levels in a systematic fashion. An emphasis on fun and family for the younger swimmers develops into a gradual increase in commitment over a period of years. Every unique group for children emphasizes the joy of swimming while introducing beginning swimming techniques. The “pre-team” portion of the class teaches the fundamental motor skills of swimming with an emphasis on correct body placement. The WAVES offer competitive and non-competitive tracks for swimmers to follow once they finish with swim lessons.
