What is the Escape Zone? •

Learning activities that teach children recognition of colors, shapes, letters, participate in crafts and indoor and outdoor fun.

A safe place to get out of your house and enjoy the benefit of meeting other parents with children the same ages. This creates friendships, a military support system and promotes the development/enhancement of personal and Family Ready and Resilient skills.

Onsite information is available to assist in the development/ ehancement of personal and Family Ready and Resilient skills. Staff members are on-hand to provide information and referral services.

Participate in free parent-child programs that focus on learning behaviors, discipline, nutrition and children’s health; onsite childcare may be provided for these programs.

The free program offers parents and their children ages newborn to 5 yrs. a chance to participate in learning activities and socialize with other military Families and children. The play place has age appropriate indoor and outdoor toys. During inclement weather we play inside in our two rooms stocked with fun toys. On sunny days we go outside and play on safe, child-sized playground equipment.

MULTICULTURAL WORKSHOP

253-967-3633

Annual workshop held in conjunction with the last ISO of the quarter, Dec. 3, 0900-1200. Open to the JBLM community; registration recommended.

Anyone who has moved more than once knows that each relocation brings unique challenges and rewards. Relocating is not the easiest task, but it can be made less stressful if you approach this move like you would any complex field problem or other task that you perform. For more helpful tips from relocation counselors, call 253-967-3628/3633. We also provide welcome CDs to each Servicemember during in-processing. However, if you live at least 50 miles away from a military installation, we can also mail you one. Call 253-967-3550 to request a CD by mail.

Resiliency Training for Military Families & Couples Transitions associated with the military lifestyle can bring about changes in roles and duties. Family members may take on new responsibilities, and children may have different reactions when separated from a caregiver. Many adapt well, but changes in behavior are normal and expectable. Children often lack the words to express their feelings and experiences. Additionally, couples may experience a number of stressors that may overwhelm their ability to cope. While many couples know how to manage these challenges, some experience periods of miscommunication and stressors that can make their connection feel distant. FOCUS helps families plan ahead for these challenges by developing a personalized toolbox of skills specifically designed to meet their needs. MANAGING FEELINGS
