Attended client meetings, site visits and a small install. I helped everyone in the office with their work and got a broad range of tasks. Ordered and picked up samples, created patterns, worked on renderings, floor plans, and picked out furniture options. Input projects into webware, and created purchase orders.

Commercial/Hospitality Runout Brewery + Restaurant Developed the branding for a brewery based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Interviewed a specialest and toured a brewery to learn about the process of making beer and the equipment needed for the process.. This project has a historical precendence of the 1970’s and is shown through furniture and finishing selections with a modern twist. This was a new build attached to my Avid Ski Resort project.

Hospitality Avid Ski Resort Inspired by the 1970’s ski culture, I created a brand new resort in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The building consists of a main level with retail shops, a conference room, gym, yoga studio, a hot tub room, and an outdoor pool and lounge area with fire pits. The hotel offers 5 different room types, 37 rooms total. Runout Brewery is next door and there is a short walk to the gondola for skiing.

Commercial Digestive Health Clinic - IIDA Student Competition Researching healthcare design and digestive health issues helped me create a 9,000 sq. ft. clinic located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Deliverables included a floor plan, furniture plan, reflected ceiling plan, elevations, and renderings. Colors were picked based upon color psychology. I wanted to create a space that was comfortable, yet professional considering the clients of a digestive health clinic.

Residential Beaumont’s at the Burj Khalifa ASID’s National Board Chair-Elect Jennifer Kolstad assigned this project for an international couple who is planning to age in place. The project is more than decorating a high end residence, it is a behavioral science project. When aging in place there are many considerations to be made. Design impacts lives, especially in the home.

Runout Brewery + Avid Ski Resort Site Plan

Location: Steamboat Springs, Colorado This was a 3-part project consisting of Avid Ski Resort, Runout Brewery, + Runtout Restaurant + Bar. The branding of the brewery came first where I created a logo in illustrator, four different beer labels, a menu, a matchbook, and a sticker set with different colorways. I was inspired after a trip to Aspen, Colorado during the X-Games. There was an after party at a place called Aviator Nation where I was blown away by what design can do for a space. This place was screaming 70’s. There were bright colors everywhere, iconic seats, and wood from floor to ceiling. Design elements can transform a space and make you feel like you’ve stepped into a different decade. Taking this concept and creating a modernized version that gave a nod to the seventies was my goal. This resort is somewhere visitors can feel nostalgic while remaining fresh and new. The name Runout comes from a term in the skier’s dictionary to define a space where people can come relax and have a drink after a long day on the slopes. The shape of the overall building came from picking a lot and drawing it in where existing conditions would allow for it. The footprint of the resort is 12,000 sq.ft. and the footprint of the brewery is 9,000 sq.ft. With the help of a brewery expert, I learned about exactly what was needed to brew beer so that I was able to space plan something functional with all the parts and pieces. There are pool tables in the entrance, windows to see what goes on out on the brewing floor, and a restaurant upstairs. There is a custom mural on the wall that can be seen from outside the building through the garage doors. Taking the classic seventies line painting,

I used my color pallet and painted the word beer across the wall. Another custom element is in the restaurant. India Mahdavi inspired booths line the walls. The backs are like flower petals in different colors picked from my pallet. High ceilings with wood beams leave the room feeling light and airy. Avid Ski Resort is a place for avid skiers to get away for the weekend to do what they love! I used slopes as a common theme while designing the exterior of the building and the floorplan. When you first walk in the positioning of the elevators is sloped to silently guide you over to the check-in desk. There are two different lobby seating areas where you can lounge by the fire to read a book or have a drink with friends. Inside the resort there are all sorts of amenities for guests to take advantage of like the retail shops, outdoor pool and lounge area with fire pits, indoor hot tub room, steam room, gym, and yoga studio. Upstairs, there are 3 floors with different types of rooms to host a range of different groups, all with a balcony and a beautiful view. There are rooms with single king beds, rooms with two queen beds, ADA accessible rooms, studio rooms that include a kitchen, and condo rooms that have two queen beds and a separate room inside with a queen bed as well as a kitchen. After a long day on the slopes, this is the perfect place to come home to.

About the Home Located on the beach of Lake Washington, this home was inspired by a mix of American and Asian culture and designed for a Japanese family. Throughout the home you will find a collection of Japanese artifacts. Above the fireplace there is a Samsung Frame television which allows for entertainment and an interchangeable art piece. Faux beams draw your eye up in the room to appreciate the architecture in the open spaces. The dining table sits low to the ground for traditional Japanese eating culture. The window coverings are custom screens made of wood and bamboo as a nod to fusuma. Fusuma are sliding doors that are used as walls allowing the internal configuration of a space to be customized for different occasions. The materials throughout the home are kept neutral for a calm and serene vibe to the home, however, wallcoverings were used to add a small gleam of excitement. Having a one level home with a central hallway, and minimal furniture was inspired from the introduction of the tea ceremony, which emphasized simplicity and modest design as a counterpoint to the excesses of the aristocracy. There are a lot of trees surrounding the property as well as the gorgeous lake in the backyard, and it was important to be able to connect the home with its surrounding nature. There are large windows in every room of the house for this purpose. Above the main area of the home, clerestory windows line the rooftop for additional natural light. Separating the rest of the home from the master suite there are two outdoor garden areas with a hallway which also brings in a ton of natural light. The floor of the home may be referred to as “bouncy as there is a crawl space below to make the home feel that way.

Digestive Health Clinic

IIDA Student Competition 2020

Located in Scottsdale, Arizona, this new digestive health clinic is here to serve patients battling digestive and liver disorders. Every aspect from the space planning to the finishing touches of this design were thought through with the end-users in mind. When people are suffering from such conditions the pain can be extremely uncomfortable and it is important for individuals to feel confident that they are being completely taken care of. Functionality was the number one priority when it came to space planning in order to create an easily understandable office flow, that separates private staff areas from public patient areas.

This clinic is 12,540 square feet which offers a variety of rooms to handle every individual’s digestive health disorders. In this facility, patients will be treated in the everyday exam rooms, a large exam room for procedures, and an infusion therapy suite. Daylight is proven to help the healing process so placing most patient rooms along the windows of the building is done with purpose. When designing a healthcare facility, it is important to create a universal design that supports the ADA Standards for Accessible Design, and HIPPA Privacy Rules. Acoustics needed to be accounted for to keep conversations confidential in exam rooms, the consultant room, and offices.

Colors in this design were kept neutral and picked based on color psychology research. The main colors for this project are different hues of orange, blue, green, and tan. Orange has been proven to promote confidence, bravery, and optimism. Blue implies trust, productivity, and competence. Green advocates healing, nature, and peace. Tans are dependable and simple. Using these colors will help everyone at the clinic feel a sense of calmness whenever they are present.

Furniture Plan

Commercial/ Digestive Health Clinic

Sourcing the correct furniture, materials, and finishes was necessary to create a comfortable, maintainable and long-lasting facility. While picking out furniture, seating accommodations for the bariatric population were considered. Throughout the clinic, Carolina and OFS Furniture Company have a strong presence offering comfortable furniture options for waiting areas, patient areas, and employee work areas. Patients will be at ease knowing that their loved ones, who are there to support them, are being taken care of as well, with the diverse and comfortable waiting areas.

Staff Breakroom The staff is accommodated with efficient workspaces where they can be collaborative and productive. There is plenty of room for everyone at their own desk to work privately and store files in their own personal space. They need an office where they want to come to work every day to treat their patient’s needs and enjoy their time at work. They are provided with private restrooms, a locker room, and a staff lounge that has a beautiful Samsung Frame TV. With these amenities provided, it will ensure the finest work will be done by the employees, with the highest standards for patient care.

Funk + Soul Radio Group

Located in Logan, Utah, Funk & Soul Radio Station was inspired by old and new album covers belonging to the genre. After going through the album covers and finding what stood out to me, I was able to find an overall aesthetic and color scheme for this office. Throughout this project I had curated and listened to a groovy Spotify playlist that was filled with songs this station would play. In the beginning we had even taken a day to listen to our music and sketch whatever we wanted to help us get creative and ready to design. After visiting Cache Valley Media Group’s station and getting a tour, I was able to gain an understanding of the function of this type of a building. We had also sat down and interviewed one of their shows co-hosts, Loralee Choate (KBLQ). She talked to us about a typlical day in the office, the important equipment needed, acoustics, and security measures that should be taken. There was a heavy focus on work-place design, by researching what has worked well for companies to have a productive and healthy environment for their employees. Work should be a place that you are excited to go to everyday. From the enterance all the way to the back of the building there are bright colors and groovy shapes.

Beaumont’s at the Burj

Loacted in Dubai at the Burj Khalifa, this international and active couple wanted a high end residence that reflected their lifestyle. Amelia is a human rights activist, and her husband Vincent is a professional chef. Together they have lived in three countries, had three children, and traveled the world. Over the process of this project I was able to enter a few competitions. The kitchen was entered into Sub-Zero Wolf, and the custom rug in the living room was designed for the the Durkan DSCVR competition. Other deliverables included a reflected ceiling plan, and rendered floor plan. There is an extensive 3D wall in the entry so a 16”x16” mockup as producedl. It was cut by a CNC router and professionally finished.
