PULAG ITINERARY and INFORMATION KIT

2014

The people who live on the slopes of the great mountain called Pulag have always referred to it as the playground of the Gods. The description perfectly summarizes what a landscape photographer can expect to see on an adventure to this legendary place. It is an iconic playground of light. Mount Pulag is the third tallest mountain in the Philippines.

Whenever

conditions are ideal, watching the sunrise from its bald summit is a sublime experience.

Photographers are

treated to an exhilarating display of clouds carpeting the lesser mountains of the Cordilleras, as far as the eye can wander. Along with the pure air, visibility is excellent and the potential for an amazing display of light is always something to anticipate.

The experience of climbing Pulag is completed by the extremely cold temperatures that has made the mountain famous among Filipino mountaineers, used to the tropical heat of lower peaks.

The three-hour

walk to the campsite, on a gently sloping, winding trail, cuts through a magical mossy forest that keeps hikers ensconced in a silent retreat. The campsite rests at the foothills of the summit, one hour away. From camp, one looks out to nothing but big sky and the formidable vastness of the central cordillera.

The

highest reaches of the park is covered in dwarf bamboo grass.

Up here, the photographer has only

but the light, the clouds, the weather and the wind to contend with.

Few places in the archipelago can oer the richness of mountain photography that Pulag can oer. Indeed, it is a sanctuary that invites you to repeated visits. Each climb is always a unique experience.
