Hello! I AM JAVIER,
A YOUNG ARCHITECT LOOKING FOR AN ENRICHING AND ENLIGHTENING ARCHITECTURE TEAM IN WHICH TO GROW.
DURING MY UNIVERSITY YEARS, I SUCCESSFULLY COMBINED THEORETICAL RESEARCH AND REAL PRACTICE. I AM PARTICULARLY INTERESTED IN LANDSCAPE AND TERRITORY ISSUES, AS A MEAN TO UNDERSTAND OUR CULTURE, PLACE AND IMPACT ON THE WORLD. I BELIEVE ARCHITECTURE SHOULD ENHANCE BOTH THE PUBLIC AND DOMESTIC REALM, GUARANTEE QUALITY AND EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCE, WHILE BEING CONSCIOUS ABOUT HOW RESOURCES ARE EMPLOYED.

/ 01 MOUNTAIN HUT + SKI RESTAURANT CERLER, THE PYRINEES, SPAIN. LANDSCAPE, BIOCLIMATIC CONSTRUCTION.
OBJECT Designing a new mountain hut at 2200 meters for the Cerler-Aramon Ski station. Program: dormitories, restaurant, cafeteria, common and living rooms, storage rooms, technical rooms. PROPOSAL After having deeply studied the bioclimatic, landscape and functional characteristics of the area, the project is finally set in place taking into account wind protection and solar energy gain considerations. Located among the scarce trees inhabiting this area, the project seeks to fit in the mountain in terms of scale, materiality and shape. The roof becomes the most recognizable feauture of the building, due to its necessary slope; and decides both interior spaces and structure. Design is dealt so that it would be possible to meet an extremely tight construction schedule, while being sensitive to the existing ecology.
/ 02 HOUSE OF EUROPEAN ART VAUXHALL, LONDON, ENGLAND. STRATEGIC DESGIN, URBAN DESIGN, REFURBISHMENT. with María Esteban Alonso
OBJECT Designing a new Art Gallery within the area of Vauxhall (London) so that, in the future, member states of the EU can continue to promote European culture in the U.K. after Brexit. Free choice of site and strategy. PROPOSAL Due to gentrification, emergent art hubs in european cities are normally located in the city’s outskirts. A great number of artists and art galleries find in traditionally industrial and peripheral areas the suitable spaces where they can better develop their own work; and London is not an exception. Owing to the sprawling condition of the english metropole, these areas are spontaneous arranged around the railway stations, ensuring good accesibility within this vast city. In addition, numerous industrial spaces such as factories or warehouses surround the railway infraestructure, settling the ideal background for art development. The House of European Art seeks to trascend its physical location and the traditional idea of the “white cube” by becoming part of this artsy newtwork. The project transforms the neuralgic transport hub of Vauxhall into an open and inviting Art Hub determined to democratize european art
/ 03 VISITOR’S CENTER JERUSALEM. RUINS, TEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE.
OBJECT Designing a Visito’rs centre above an ongoing archeological site. PROPOSAL Due to the complexity and bad quality of the archeological site an independent space is created inmediately above. In contrast to the heavy stone of the ruins, the project is made of light and prefabricated black steel and wood. The key of the project lies on the structural order and in how the project touch de ground.

/ 04 RED HOOK URBAN REGENERATION RED HOOK, BROOKLYN, NEW YORK. STRATEGIC DESGIN, URBAN REGENERATION, LANDSCAPE.
OBJECT Red Hook urban regeneration, a decaying and industrial neighbourhood in southwest Brooklyn. PROPOSAL The project tries to put together industrial, residential and green urban areas through a series of changes in the morphology of the Red Hook urban pattern, boosting diversity and trying to keep the industrial identity of the neighbourhood. The one-story warehouses and industrial business scattered across the district, are concentrated in five-stories “green buildings, in order to reinforce the residential tissue and green infraestructure. Every block of buildings will host a small park and one of the mentioned buildings. The big industrial factories are transformed into huge cultural and sportive containers, ready to be used by the local population. In between those refurbished factories and the port, a public park would be designed, so that people from every corner of New York can enjoy a renewed urban life with a view of Manhattan and the Liberty Statue.
/ 05 TEMPORARY DWELLING AFTER SANDY DISASTER BROOKLY, NEW YORK. REFURBISHMENT, TEMPORARY DWELLING.
OBJECT Temporary dwelling for climate refugees after Huracan Sandy. Refurbishment of some Brooklyn tenements. PROPOSAL The project is divided into two parts. The renovation of the northern faรงade (highly damaged) with a new glazed balcony towards the trees growing in the backyard. And the interior refurbishment with temporary equipments. Everything is made of wood.
