Interview with Ta

Joyce: How has your experience in Los angeles reflect your way of viewing other cultures?

Joyce: What kinds of responses do you receive from other people when they come visit your town or eat your cultural food?

Ta: Every culture is different such as food, language. I had visited “Little Tokyo� in LA, which is Japanese town. The food they eat and the language they speak are different from my culture. However, Japanese people is nice and the tone they speak is very soft.

Ta: Thai food is very delicious especially curry. Joyce: What types of people usually live or come visit Thai town? Ta: Most people that come and visit to Thai town is white and Thai.


Joyce: Have you been to other cultural spots in LA? If so, where and what did you think? Ta: I visited Japanese town, which is like Tokyo. I like Japanese food, especially sushi and ShabuShabu (BBQ beef).

Joyce: What do other people think about your culture? Ta: Other people think my culture is delicious food. There are many Thai restaurants in Thai Town. Many people go and have food over there including Thai people.

Los Angeles was founded on September 4, 1781 by Spanish governor Felipe de Neve. It became part of Mexico in 1821 then the city and state of California itself became part of the U.S. nation in 1848 after the Mexican-American War. Los Angeles is the second largest city in the United States. With a population of about 3.8 million people, it is the largest city in the state of California and the Western United States. Los Angeles is the most populated and one of the most multicultural cities in the United States.
