As we entered 2022, we hoped it would be calmer. We hoped, that after several pandemic psychologically hard years of pandemic, we will return to the usual routine of life, and especiallylively meetings, sincere conversations, hugs and other things important to our emotional health.

However, the Russian invasion of Ukraine shocked the whole world and forced the "Youth Line" community to refocus. When the war started, we realized that we could contribute and help by doing what we do best - providing emotional support. In the first days of the war, "Youth Line" received many more calls from young people full of fear, anxiety, insecurity, and despair. We continued to be on duty 24/7. Moreover, we did not hesitate to join the project of the Ministry of Health, which included the possibility of receiving emotional support over the phone for Ukrainian refugees. We also initialized the help for the Ukrainian national line “Lifeline Ukraine” and took over some of the calls when it was difficult for them to continue to work due to wartime conditions. I am immensely proud of the entire team of "Youth Line" who demonstrated leadership, focus and belief in the vision of our organization during a difficult period – that none would be left alone. I am happy that the clear strategic directions of our organization helped not to be distracted and to achieve the set goals even during the uncertainties and in a year full of tension. Emotional support tour "Don't be afraid to speak", campaign "Green light for living", project "Youth for youth", new season of the podcast "Talks from the heart", active and relevant content for young people on social media networks, the organization's annual conference "From Fear to Happiness", Leadership Academy, speeches and lectures at conferences "Mokonomika", "Pause" and discussion festival "Būtent", re-branding and updating the visual identity are just a few of the important projects we have implemented in 2022. And we did this alongside daily 24/7 vigils during which our volunteers responded to 37 thousand requests for help.

In 2023, the main and most important challenge of the "Youth Line" remains - that no young person is left alone in the face of emotional challenges, but for now we can only respond to 2/3 appeals. I sincerely believe that the amazing team, the trust of long-time partners and sponsors, positive feedback from the applicants and a clear understanding of our strategic goals - to be attractive and accessible space for young people, to be a reliable partner for the society in the field of emotional health of young people, and to be a strong and inclusive community for the people of our organisation – will inspire and energize us to reach the goals of 2023.

Project “Youth for youth”

We organized a pilot project together with the Association for Integrative Neuroscience and the Shamiri Institute from Kenya.

We adapted it and tested it in three schools enhancing emotional and mental well-being program for students.

For the second year in a row, we commemorated the World Mental Health Day with the nationwide events, inviting to take care of our mental health.
