Landings of immigrants on Europe's mediterranean coasts during the last years has raised many important questions. Does exists any guideline which regulates the design of the infrastructures dedicated to the accommodation? This is the idea that drove this research.
Refugees accommodation is mostly confined to sites and buildings of a temporary nature. This plays an important role in the integration process, as most of the spaces allocated for the accommodation doesn’t seem to respect common guidelines, or in some cases, to offer a proper environment and activities to allow an optimal integration of these people into a foreign culture.
This research tries to collect current guidelines through some examples of buildings currently used for accommodation, and then to apply those guidelines through a redesign of an existing building located in Genoa,
