Auckland offers a host of activities and adventures, from sophisticated museums, galleries and sightseeing attractions, to urban adventures, harbour cruises, scenic offshore islands and award-winning wineries. Down at the waterfront, the Viaduct Harbour is a good place to begin exploring. Take in the harbour highlights on a cruise, help sail an authentic America’s Cup yacht, or catch a ferry to one of the Hauraki Gulf islands. Head uptown and you can ride the lift to the top of the Sky Tower – the Southern Hemisphere’s highest – for magnificent views of the city and harbour, or raise your heart-rate with a SkyWalk® or SkyJump®. The city’s landmark Harbour Bridge has more adventure options to tempt the daredevils, including a bridge climb and the world’s first bridge bungy. Culture vultures will find themselves at home in the city’s sophisticated galleries and museums. You can browse New Zealand’s largest collection of art at the Auckland Art Gallery, view the rare Maori taonga (treasures) at Auckland Museum, go sailing on a heritage vessel at Voyager New Zealand Maritime Museum or ride the historic tram at the Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT).
