Background/Performances During my studies at the Royal Welsh College of music and Drama as a classical guitarist under John Mills I began teaching guitar privately. A year later in 2007 I was offered a place at the DS School of music in Monmouth as a classical guitar and music theory tutor. While studying composition with Timothy Raymond at the RWCMD I found a placement with the Welsh theatre company 'Hijinx', here a was assistant musical director and composer along with the musical director and composer James Williams. From this I was given the opportunity to compose the music for King Lear with the theatre company 'Everyman Theatre' in 2009, and Death of a Salesman in 2010. In my last year at the RWCMD I received the Stuart Cohen Award for excellence in guitar performance. After building up a portfolio I applied to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama) for a Masters degree in Composition. I am now studying composition with Dr Gareth Williams. In January 2011 I received a premiere by Psappha ensemble, a piece called 'As If I Should Have Something to Say'. I have recently had three premieres at the RCS's new music festival PLUG, one of which had one the Craig Armstrong Prize in March 2011. It was a piece written for ballet called 'Barotrauma' and will be choreographed and performed again in June 2012. I am a founding member of Said ensemble, a contemporary music group based in Glasgow. We aim to take contemporary music to different venues including bars, theatres and concert halls and have been doing so since June 2011. Since then 'Said' have premiered two of my works, 'When desire is cut by revelation' and 'four songs on dating, love, sex and loss'.
