Top Hat Coffee Cake 1 Serves 6 to 8 Batter: ½ cup butter or margarine 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup sour cream 2 cups sifted all purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare topping and reserve. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, sour cream, and vanilla. Beat well. Sift dry ingredients. Stir into butter mixture. Pour ½ of mixture in well greased 9” square pan; sprinkle ½ of topping; repeat. Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes. Check to see if toothpick comes out dry. Joan Dear
