Introduction The Hydrostone neighbourhood is located in the north end of the Halifax Peninsula. The Ross & Macdonald architecture firm designed the houses as part of the reconstruction following the Halifax Explosion in 1917. This document compares the changes to the facades of each building over time. There are photographs from 2012 and architects’ illustrations of the original forms. Original illustrations from: Ross, G.A. (1919). The Halifax disaster and the re-housing. Montreal: Ross & Macdonald Incorporated. All 2012 photographs by Jannelle Van Den Bosch.
