Brand Identity Manual

A brand is nothing but a mental expression of an experience offered by a product / service. An experience which is coloured by our environment, values, beliefs and needs. Building a strong brand ensures not just brand awareness or the ability to identify a brand under different conditions but also the ability to retrieve the brand from memory when the product category is mentioned / thought of.

This manual provides specifications for correct usage of the Essar Hypermart brand. The guidelines detailed in this manual will help you achieve the highest levels of uniformity and consistency in any communication required. The manual is available in a ready-to-use digital format for your convenience. This will eliminate the need to rearrange, recreate and realign any of the elements thereby ensuring complete uniformity. Corporate communication is central to our core identity, and you will find out in this Guidelines how Essar Hypermart expresses itself though various collaterals, formats and design elements.

Building a strong brand helps an organisation to: • Enhance programmes to attract new customers / recapture old ones • Enhance brand loyalty • Allow higher margins by permitting both premium pricing and reduced reliance upon promotions • Provide a platform for growth via brand extensions • Provide leverage in the distribution channel • Provide a competitive advantage which acts as a barrier to competition

Brand Identity The first step in building a brand is to create a strong visual identity which is common across products, segments and markets and leverage the strengths of the mother brand; in this case Essar Hypermart. This ensures that one unified brand face is presented to the customer, thus reducing confusion and increasing empathy.

Each time updates are provided, a “Schedule of Ammendments” will be issued and the record of amendments, to be found at the end of the document. The new revised schedule shall then replace the concerned amendment.

Civil Works Flooring

Shutter

Providing and laying 600 X 600 Vitrified tile flooring of RR Kabel / Kajaria / Nitco of approved shade with paper thin joint and to required slope, set on 20 mm thick cement mortar 1:5.Top layer to be of 6 mm white cement float 1:4. Flooring to be in proper line, level and all joints to be repointed in white cement / grout to match the tile colour. Flooring to be cured and cleaned with oxalic acid washing etc. complete. Flooring to be covered over with POP / Jute during course of work and to be handed over in finished condition, free of scratches and cracks, etc.

Fall Ceiling Providing and fixing in position Gypsum False Ceiling of India Gypsum make or equivalent supported with GI Perimeter Channels of size 0.55 mm thick (having one flange of 20 mm and another flange of 30 mm and web of 27 mm) along with perimeter of roundup, screw fixed to brick wall/ partition with the help of Nylon sleeves and screws at 610 mm C / C. The suspending GI intermediate channels of size 45 mm (0.9 mm thick with two flanges of 15 mm each) from the soffit at 1220 mm C / C with roundup angle of width 25 X 10 X 0.55mm thick fixed to soffit with GI cleat and steel expansion fasteners, roundup section of 0.55 mm thick having knurled web of 51.5 mm and two flanges of 26 mm each with lips of 10.5 mm are then fixed to the intermediate channel with the help of connecting clips and in direction perpendicular to the intermediate channel at 457 mm C / C. light cutouts to be made to fix the lighting fixtures in the ceiling as per design and detail.

Glass Frontage Store front glass partition : Providing and fixing of 12 mm toughened glass partitions as per drawings and design detail.

LCD TV and DVD Player

Statutory Certificates

An LCD TV should be placed on the wall separating the manager’s cabin from the rest of the store at a height of 5 1/2 ft from the floor. The TV should be a 21” LCD television.

The Hypermart Certificate, Labour Certificate, Shops and Establishments Certificate and Sales Tax Certificate to be placed on the wall which is on the left hand side of the manager’s cabin (looking from the entrance).

A DVD Player should be placed below the LCD TV.

Store Elements to be Provided by the Company 1. Backlit glow sign (Retail Outlet signage) – The Retail Outlet owner can get the board made locally and send the bill for reimbursement. The material and dimensions should be as per the specifications. The concerned Retail Outlet Manager (ROM) will approve the same and send it to the Head Office (HO) for reimbursement. Maximum limit – Rs. 180 per sq ft 2. All product panels along with the product samples 3. Hypermart branding inside the store (in the manager’s cabin) – vinyl printed on 3 mm sunboard

All Retail Outlet owners should procure the specified furniture from the shortlisted vendor only to maintain consistency of the look and feel of the store. Details of the same are available with the respective ASM / ROM The rest of the branding material and office structure is to be procured by the Business Partner.


Store Elements • Store Location Any Retail Outlet store should have high visibility. Hence, the Retail Outlet branded store (office) should be located in a high traffic area, namely a ‘loha mandi’, a business street or a commercial area / main market of the town. The godown can be located as per the Retail Outlet owner’s infrastructure and suitable regulatory / statutory regime. The Retail Outlet branded store should not be located in non-traffic areas, inside cramped / narrow gullies, inner lanes of industrial areas, etc. • Primary Signage (Store Board, Outside Colour, Inside Colour, Frontage Look) • Secondary Signage (Behind Manager’s Desk, Product Panels) • Tertiary Brand Elements (Standardised Furniture, Ceiling, Flooring, Electrical Equipment, etc.)
