At Sandals, the World’s Only 5-Star Luxury Included® Resorts, the best of everything is included, even world-class golf. With championship courses in the Bahamas, Jamaica, and Saint Lucia, you’ll find yourself challenged and exhilarated at every hole, whether you’re taking your first shot or a seasoned player. Sandals Golf & Country Club is the “most played” course in Jamaica, with narrow fairways, miniscule drop-off greens, and panoramic views—all reasons Golf Digest gave it a 4-star rating. You’ll find two courses in Saint Lucia: the 18-hole Sandals St. Lucia Golf & Country Club at Cap Estate, featuring 6,744 yards of sprawling greens, and the 9-hole Sandals Golf Club, with narrow fairways and rolling hills. In the Bahamas, Sandals Emerald Bay is home to an 18-hole, Greg Norman-designed championship golf course named one of the Caribbean’s best courses by Travel + Leisure. Message from The Minister of Tourism & Aviation

Hon. Dionisio D’Aguilar, MP

Thirty five miles southeast of Nassau begins a chain of 365 islands and cays known as the Exumas. Home to some of the most pristine waters on earth, the Exumas summon travelers from all over the world and from all walks of life to experience Nature at its magnificent best. Geographically, the Exumas are configured into three major areas– Great Exuma, Little Exuma and the Exuma Cays. Each offers its own unique Bahamian experience. Great Exuma and Little Exuma are known for their laid back surroundings, while the Exuma Cays act as the playground for the rich and famous, boasting numerous private palatial homes, luxury resorts and beachside condos. The Exumas are also rich in history, as they were settled by the Loyalists with their slaves following the American Revolution. The sapphire blue waters of Exuma have wowed astronauts from space who have declared them to be the clearest and most beautiful in the world. From boating and fishing to kayaking, diving, snorkeling, and kite surfing, the translucent turquoise waters of the Exumas invite all to indulge in every water-based activity imaginable. Visitors to the Exumas can experience the swimming pigs at Big Major Cay, swim and relax on the Tropic of Cancer Beach and visit Thunder Ball Grotto, the underwater cavern teeming with exotic marine life that was named for the James Bond movie Thunderbolt (scenes of the movie were shot at this location). Visitors can also opt to explore the Exuma Cays Sea and Land Park, marvel at the nurse sharks congregating at Compass Point, stride the length of the mile- long sandbar and interact with the Iguanas at Allan’s Cay. Exuma’s annual calendar of events feature popular sailing regattas, festivals, homecomings and an October marathon. Exploring the Exumas is made even more delightful by the warm, welcoming Exumians you meet along the way. From them you’ll get the sense that here is a place you are welcome to return to, again and again. Warm Regards,

Hon. Dionisio D’Aguilar, MP Minister of Tourism & Aviation

Exuma, is the ‘Official Home of the Swimming Pigs’. Visitors to Exuma are happily embracing the unique and special experience of swimming with the pigs on the uninhabited island which is home to these special creatures and affectionately called “Pig Beach”. The pigs, though feral, are exceptionally friendly, running from under the shade of the almond trees to greet visitors that bring them treats. They are also fed by the crews of passing yachts and vessels. Visitors may book their visits to Big Major Cay for their opportunities to swim with the pigs through a variety of excursion vendors listed on the following page.

Buying Real Estate in Exuma! As more and more people make the transition to the simple life, The Bahamas has seen a boosted interest in real estate on the Family Islands. That’s especially so for the Exumas. With its pristine chain of cays renowned for their sparkling waters and enthralling locals, Exuma is a perfect place to invest in. Exuma’s true potential as a real estate heaven lies in its structure. A population of little more than 4,000 has dispersed itself over a series of islands and cays. Most locals reside on Great and Little Exuma, while many cays remain uninhabited. These islands and cays stretch out over endless shallow banks, and glistening atop those shallow banks are some of the clearest waters on earth teeming with aquatic life. The potential of such beauty has enticed top investors from Canada, Italy, South America, Asia, and the United States to our shores to vie with local real estate agencies for the best properties on the market, itching to grab a bit of paradise. But what is it that really makes Exuma such an attractive property investment? Surely other parts of The Bahamas, or even the Caribbean, have crystalline waters and secluded enclaves.

If that’s what you’re thinking, then you’ve never been to Exuma! We’ll say it again; Exuma’s true potential lies in its structure! There’s not just one “perfect spot,” but dozens. There are bustling towns like George Town, and charming settlements such as Stocking Island, Williams Town, Rolle Town, the Ferry on little Exuma, and more that are all short distances from the mainland. Exuma offers beachfront properties, retirement/vacation homes, family residences, and commercial complexes. Buyers can pick and choose from an array of secluded lots, or for the especially endowed, private islands. And since Exuma happens to be one of the more advanced islands outside New Providence, there’s no shortage of experienced real-estate agents to help you acquire you’re bit of paradise! Key players in the real estate game in Exuma are Damianos, Coldwell Banker/ Lightbourne Realty, H.G. Christie, Front Rowe Realty and Seahorse Realty. Every agency is well-known for their tireless efforts in insuring your purchase goes as smoothly as possible. Their goal is provide the best service, not just for you, but for the island, thus every agent strives to make their clients’ buying experi-

Investment Guidelines The International Persons Landholding Act passed in 1993 made it easier for non-Bahamians and companies under their control to own property. 1. A non-Bahamian or permanent resident who purchases or acquires an interest in a condominium or property to be used by him as a single family dwelling or for construction of such dwelling must apply to the secretary to the Investment Board to register the purchase following completion of the purchase. 2. Upon receipt of the above the acquisition is registered and a certificate of registration issued. 3. A permit to acquire property is required as a pre-condition to completion of the purchase if the property is undeveloped land and the purchaser would become the owner of two or more contiguous acres. A permit is also required in cases where property being purchased is not for use as a single family dwelling (for example if the purchaser is buying a resort, restaurant or other commercial venture). 4. Non-Bahamians who own homes in The Bahamas may apply to the director of immigration for an annual home owner’s residence card. This entitles the owner, spouse and dependent children to enter and remain in The Bahamas for the duration of the validity of the card. This is intended to facilitate entry but does not confer resident status. All applications for permits along with fees made payable to the Public Treasury should be submitted to the Ministry of Financial Services & Investments for consideration by the Investment Board.
