The final work of the subject was based on the work of a Brazilian artist, Helio Oiticica. The idea that gave prominence to the work of this artist was that art should not just be a static object, it should also be a permeable object.

elements of three dimensional composition

So, this work was based on the principle of explosion, but simulating the picture of a window or a door. Wooden boards of different sizes and colors were used (yellow, orange and red) for the development of this activity. Work done in partnership with Bruno Ramos, Fernanda Ribeiro, Jairo Alves, JĂŠssica Mota, Juliana Rocha, Lana Costa and Pedro Brilhante. 1 painting the plaques 2 perspective adjustment 3 demonstration of the permeable spaces 4 frontal view 5 right view

mandala and typografhy| fortaleza, brazil, 2010

The idea of the first job was to develop a composition utilizing some common characters/ characteristics, and to do this all the studies made on Gestalt’s concepts were very important. This project was carried out from a module designed with the letter S stretched, copied and mirrored in several different positions. The final work proposed the idealization of a complete font with all the knowledge developed with typographic studies done throughout the course. So, we utilized the concept of full and empty, the Square Tape was created from “solid” big squares “perforated” by smaller squares, using a modulation.

beach residence| aquiraz, brazil, 2010

The project was a beach residence in the city near to Fortaleza, Aquiraz. The house was developed linearly, following the largest size of the site. Because it is a house in a coastal region, this naturally needs to favor the common spaces, so in this project we have chosen to integrate all of these rooms into the ground floor. In addition, the personal spaces are on the second floor, focusing on privacy for the residents. architectural project 1

church| fortaleza, brazil, 2010

The project goal was to propose a new religious building for the community of Mucuripe in Fortaleza. There was already a church in the same place, but their current space was no longer appropriate to accommodate all people. One of the concepts that guided the project was the identification with the habitants of this region, employing references of the local culture. It was very important to give identification to this new purpose of building.

B

Not only does the church have a spiritual function, but also a social one. Thus, there is also a proposal for a community center that could give the opportunity to expand the activities of this church. B

multifamily building| fortaleza, brazil, 2011

architectural project 3

The idea of this project was to idealize a multifamily building in a region called Alto da Balança. The site chosen is favored for its proximity to the area most valued in the city of Fortaleza. Also, it is situated opposite to the Cocó Park, a great landscaping potential. It is important to say that the difficulties imposed by legislation are primarily due to the maximum height allowed for buildings in this region, which is 36m. So, we couldn’t design a tall building with a common number of apartments per floor. Actually, it was necessary to offer many housing units per floor to enable the construction of this apartment complex. In addition, the site had a stream on the property, so we needed to keep the building at a distance of 15m from it. Thus, the project consists of three interconnected buildings with ten floors on each one. The concept applied was different rectangular volumes, achieved by the release of a floor which served as a terrace to observe the beautiful view, a privileged common space for residents.

recycling a structure| fortaleza, brazil, 2011

The purpose of this discipline was to develop a project to revitalize a square in the city of Fortaleza. The methodology was a little bit different, because each student was responsible just for a part of this area. However, in order to guide the thinking of intervention, concepts were later discussed and selected. It was really important to give unity to the final result as each student would serve a different program. So, this project’s thinking was based on one of the strongest concepts incorporated by the team: sustainability. architectural project 4

The idea was came into being when we visited the area and it was possible to see that the skate ramps located there were not used by the people. So, this project consist of “recycling a structure, giving them another function but incorporating the material that we already had there. In this case, we thought about a space for the contemplation of nature with a stand and garden beds. This space was designed with volumes and plans on different levels to give the possibility of observing the vegetation from several different angles.

mixed use building| fortaleza, brazil, 2012

The objective of this subject, which is still in development, is to design a “mixed building”, a kind of construction that combines different uses: residential and commercial. The site is located in the more consolidated region of Fortaleza called Aldeota. It is important to say that an important factor that we need to consider is the proximity to the Eudoro Correia’s Grove, a significant landscape potential of the city.

architectural project 5

This proposal, made one residential and floors. Also, there shops on the ground

at the stage of preliminary study, has two towers: one commercial with office rooms, each one with 16 is a kind of “open mall” with different types of floor and second floor.

One of the difficulties imposed is to combine the insolation motivated by the location of the lot. So, for this project we proposed the use of Brises-soleil n the faces most affected by the sun action.

landscaping our college| fortaleza, brazil, 2012

The objective of this final work was to propose a new landscaping project for the Department of Architecture and Urbanism at the Federal University of CearĂĄ.

landscape architecture

The main feature of the project is to create different living spaces: contemplatives, socials, learning and etc. The flower beds are geometric and their volume adds richness to the landscape design, as it works with different heights and positions, from which arise living spaces. This geometrical concept was disseminated throughout the space, exceeding the limits of the patio, the central element of the structure of this complex. Also, there are proposals for several new facilities analyzed by the team as important for improving students’ learning: an amphitheater, greenhouse and bicycle rack. Moreover, we idealized a signaling to facilitate the articulation of users in the Department of Architecture and Urbanism and help to teach about landscaping. Work done in partnership with Mariana Quezado and Paulo AndrÊ Cavalcante.

social housing| fortaleza, brazil, 2011

The first project of urban intervention was done in a community called Lagamar in the a region of Alto da Balança. This community is characterized predominantly as residential, with families living in precarious situations. In addition, the proximity to Tauape’s Stream, some homes are even liable to flooding in this area.

urban design 1

So, the project tries to fit the reality of this community, but also tries to improve the quality of life of these families. It is important to say that the pair studied the situation of each residence location and then proposed some reforms and expropriations, which would be compensated by the government or placed in residential buildings in a nearby site. In addition, some equipment analyzed as necessary, motivated by the distance of the Lagamar’s community of similar equipments, hindering the access of its residents were also, envisioned in the area of intervention, mainly, a school and green areas, recreational areas. Work done in partnership with Dorotheu Ximenes.

linear park| fortaleza, brazil, 2011

This project consists in developing a linear park for the Macei贸 Creek. Located in a strategic area for the city of Fortaleza, the creek has suffered several attacks over the years. The main one is the occupation of its shores for low-income population that is not supported by housing programs. To make this park, the main proposition is the relocation of some residents and the demolition of illegal constructions along the shores. urban design 2

Other guidelines are: the recovery of natural vegetation in the creek, the promote of leisure areas and integrate the park with other areas of the city. We also tried to make the maximum possible of free areas that could create parks and plazas and encourage sports through the installation of sports equipments like the skate parks and bike paths. Work done in partnership with Cairo Barbosa, Mariana Quezado, Marina Rodrigues and Paulo Andr茅 Barbosa.
