Why Are We Here? The City of Asheville has a strong record and long standing commitment to sustainability. In 2012, The Graduate School of Lenoir-Rhyne University launched the Master of Science in Sustainability Studies program and has been widely recognized as a program that prepares and challenges sustainability leaders to transform our communities, our businesses, our organizations, and ourselves so that everyone can flourish. Most students attend part time, which is two courses (6 credits) every fall, spring and summer Classes are usually in the evenings from 6-9pm Face-to-face and online classes 33-hour program including a Master's Project experience with a community partner

Our students explore causes and impacts of environmental, economic, and social justice challenges while establishing the capacity to design, implement, and advance initiatives that move us toward more sustainable outcomes for current and future generations. Sampling of Courses: Tuition Funding is Available: The Reese Institute for Conservation of Natural Resources at Lenoir-Rhyne University Asheville is offering a few opportunities for enrolled students to work on sustainability-related projects. This requires work ranging from 40 to 120 hours in a semester, and students receive a tuition reduction as fair compensation. Additional support funding is available through Reese Institute Project Grants and travel funds.
