Teacher News: JK drum teacher Kyle was recently featured playing Jazz with his colleagues on radio station 88.9 FM.

LITTLE MOZARTS: We are in week 5 of the 10 week Winter Session of the Little Mozart group class for toddlers & their parents or caregivers. The class occurs at 12:15 on Wednesdays until Wed. April 3. (A second spring 10 week session will run from the week of April 10 to June 12th.) The class is being taught by piano & voice instructor Jeannette "Gigi". Private Little Mozart lessons for children 6 years & younger are also available if these group classes are not convenient. An optional smaller Little Mozart packet is also available for only $30 for the private classes.
JAZZ MUSIC YOUTH HONORS BAND SCHOLARSHIP: Jazzonian is sponsoring a "Youth Honors Band" to perform at the S. FL Jazz Summit in April. High School students are eligible to apply with the

JAZZ MUSIC JAMMIN: New Teacher Welcome: Ana, strings (violin, viola & cello)
Jammin' Kids Teacher Profile: Marcee joined JK in 2011 and is a violin & viola instructor in our strings department. Her preferred curriculum is the Suzuki method. Marcee is originally from South Florida and previously taught at various other music schools in this area. Marcee is currently studying Music, as well as Reading Education, at FAU. She also studied Music Education at the Univ. of South FL in Tampa. Marcee was the principal violinist with the FAU Symphony Orchestra. Previously she was also the principal violinist with the FL Youth Orchestra. Marcee has been one of our summer camp counselors and also serves as JK's Assistant Academy Manager.

The Gold Coast Jazz Society sponsors "First Friday Jazz Jams" where student jazz musicians are invited to jam with real jazz pros each month from 3/1/13 (to 6/7/13) from 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. at ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. in Ft. Lauderdale. Audience members of all ages are welcome & admission is free. They also sponsor a jazz concert series offering tickets to students for only $10. JK MUSIC MINI-CAMPS!: Camp planning season has begun. This summer JK will again offer its affordable & popular Music Mini-Camp & Mini-Institute programs. Come explore the wonderful world of music this summer! The Mini-Camp runs during the mornings from 9 a.m. - noon for 5-9 year olds. It involves small groups rotating between: intro to different instruments, musical arts & crafts, musical board games & musical computer games. There is a performance for the families at the end of each week! The Mini-Institute runs during the afternoons from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. for 10-15 year olds. It involves: intro to different instruments for beginners, or jammin' ensembles for more experienced students, + music appreciation, music theory, & music composition. There is a contest for the best new original song!

Both programs are offered for 10 Weekly (Mon. Fri.) sessions from June 10 to August 16. Beginners & advanced students are both welcomed. The cost is only: $25 deposit to reserve spot, $100 per week, $360 per month/4 weeks (a 10% discount!), plus a $15 registration fee (per family). If you already know your summer schedule, lock in your preferred week(s) now. Space is limited!

Please email us any schedule changes in writing & also remember that any & all make-ups must occur within the current Spring Session and are not carried over into the next Summer Session. If you are having difficulty scheduling a make up with your regular teacher, please schedule with one of our many other wonderful instructors as a substitute. Lessons can always be rescheduled with 24 notice, however please remember that there is a $5 rescheduling fee for any & all lessons not occurring at their regular time.
