The Astrologer, & Young Boyar, circa 1937, two watercolour and pencil on paper costume designs for a production of Rimsky-Korsakov's Le Coq d'Or by the Theatre de la Chauve-Souris (The Bat), given in Paris in 1937, each signed and titled, 35 x 28cm (13.75 x 11ins) mount aperture, matching wood frames, glazed Provenance: Purchased by the current owner from Annabel Popovich, Master Drawings, Summer Exhibition in London, 1980s-90s. The Theatre de la Chauve-Souris was co-founded by Nikita Balieff in Moscow in 1906. Choreography for this production of Le Coq d’Or was by Mikhail Fokine. (2) £200 - £400
