Lot 534 531* A circa 1930 B.S.A. gentleman’s light roadster, with a 24-inch frame with an indistinct number of 3759, it is enamelled black and has had new decals added, the 19-inch semi-drop handlebars and centre pull rear brake lever are chromium-plated, as is the B.S.A. chain wheel, 7-inch cranks and pedals, the latter with toe grips. A B.S.A. three-speed rear hub is fitted with a quadrant control fitted to the top tube, the 26inch Westwood rims are fitted with cream tyres (1)

534* A circa 1898 Columbia Rear-Steering Tandem. A ‘Model 48’ lady-front bicycle having been well restored with correct old style nickel-plating which complements the black enamel frame, two 26inch wooden rims are fitted, having wire-tangent spoking, a solid rubber tyre to the front and a rubber protection ring to the rear. A Christy saddle and a period leather saddle are fitted, as well as two sets of nickel-plated open-frame pedals. The chain wheels and double-linked chain appear to be in good useable condition. The Columbia badge is in good fettle with easy to read patent details covering the period from 1885 to 1896. A circa 1900 ‘Twentieth Century’ oil lamp is fitted

532* A circa 1900 Hirondelle ‘Metropolitaine’, (Francaise D’Armes) gentleman’s bicycle with a 26inch frame, retaining its original black enamelled finish and gilt box lining, 26-inch wooden rims, black tyres, 18-inch nickel-plated handlebars and a large 7-inch crank with a New Departure rear hub and an inchpitch type chain (not fitted), the headstock badge reading ‘Paris - Chasseur D’antin.6’ (1)

535* An Anzile of Marseille gentleman’s light roadster with a brown-painted 22-inch frame, 26-inch tangent spoked wooden wheels, side-pull ‘The Handsome’ calliper brakes back and front, operated by Bowden cable, low profile 18-inch scorching handlebars, leather saddle, a French chain set to include double-roller inch-pitch chain and a single speed coaster hub

533* A circa 1904 ‘Columbia’ gentleman’s ‘Model 45’ roadster by The Pope Mfg, Co., having a 24-inch frame with a delightful black enamel finish, the inchpitch block chain and sprockets are in good condition, one-piece 7-inch cranks with rat trap pedals are fitted and retain their original nickel-plating. The semi upturned 21-inch hickory handlebars, favoured by Columbia at this time to special order, possess old style cork grips. The saddle is an early Christy type, and a framemounted tool bag is fitted together with a Hine Watt ‘Columbia Model C’ acetylene gas lamp. A good original bicycle with wooden rims and cream 26-inch tyres (1)
