Sales Management Comments The annual Fleckvieh Equation Sale is still the true pioneer of Fullblood Simmental sales. In it’s DNA, or origins, are the founding sales of Fleckvieh Fest, Fleckvieh Focus and Fleck Select, who all over time merged to pull in a common direction to promote and market the strain of Simmental. We now see more growth and maturity in the fact that the sale is designed to accommodate marketing for Fullblood Simmental on a whole. I think we may have one of the strongest groups of bred heifers we have seen in awhile, or ever! The heifer calves are always an exciting display of the most current genetics available to the Fullblood Simmental business. There is a LOT of Simmental activity going on in the days leading up to the Fleckvieh Equation, so make some travel plans to spend a few days in Central Alberta to witness the greatest display of Simmental cattle in Canada that happens throughout the year. We understand if you can’t be at every sale that happens in this series, but we hope you choose the “Equation”. Of course if you can’t attend and would still like to participate, we are here to assist you in your absence and can handle your bidding/buying needs, please give our cell phones listed a call. We’d love to chat with you.

Polled Full Fleckvieh. We bred On Demand to all of our older horned cows in 2017 and were blessed with an abundance of really good polled heifers. Keet's Faline 41F is one of my favorites. Her dam, Keet's Tanisha 23T, has two daughters in our herd with a ton of volume and an open heifer that is at the top of the heifer pen.

Dennis & Jeanne Small 36571 Range Road 21, Red Deer County, AB T4G 0M9 Ph: 403-728-3528 Cell: 403-506-2870 email:email@example.com www.applecrosscattle.com Welcome! We are absolutely delighted to present 7 bred heifers for your consideration at Fleckvieh Equation 2019. Our selections this year continue to showcase our breeding philosophy - you will find strong maternal lines across the group, with deep extended pedigrees to ensure quality and consistency. The heifers have been double vaccinated and will receive scour-guard before sale day. The sale date this year falls very close to the heifer's AI dates. As a result, for any interest from out of province, we are willing to bring the heifers home after the sale and calve them out. While ‘stuff’ can still happen at our place, we would much prefer it happen here instead of on a truck. Jeanne and I have split the duties of writing the footnotes this year. This may become obvious. If you have any questions about our heifers or our program, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to visiting with you on December 22nd in Red Deer. Dennis & Jeanne Small

Bred AI March 24 to Dora Lee Eclipse FF9R S639824. Pasture exposed April 15 to June 4 to APLX Rambo 4B P1126410. Preg checked safe. Polled Full Fleckvieh. Backed by proven genetics, Penny is a real head turner that already showcases massive volume and thickness. Her dam, Poppy 1X, is one of the first cows most visitors point out when they tour our herd. Cruising around our pastures as a 2000lb working female, Poppy is consistently admired for her old-school Fleckvieh build; she is the definition of the term ‘easy keeping’. Penny’s older maternal sister has already left her mark here, as Piper is the dam of Applecross Pippa, our 2017 high seller who is working at Starwest Farms. Penny is also the full sibling to APLX Wrangler 16E, who was selected by R-5 Simmentals at the 2018 Red Deer Bull Sale. A true standout individual coming from such a consistent cow family, this Penny will be well worth your thoughts on sale day.

Catrina traces back to our Dora Lee Christina cow, whose progeny has been very well received at past Equations and Red Deer Bull Sales. Named for her great grand dam, who we unfortunately lost at a young age, Catrina’s dam, grand dam and great great grand dam all currently walk our pastures. Her grand dam, Applecross Charlotte, has given us five straight heifers to start off her career; three of her daughters have been retained here, a fourth went to Skywest at last year’s Equation, and a fifth is currently in our open heifer pen! Catrina is a long bodied, big volumed female. Coloured right and with a great hair coat, she is backed by consistent genetics and is worth a look!

With a large goggle on one eye, Noelle is almost the spitting image of her mother, her grandmother, and her maternal sister, Applecross Emma, who was our high seller in 2014’s Equation sale. Sired by FGAF Woweffect, Noelle has many impressive paternal sisters in our herd, while one of her paternal brothers has stayed here as our heifer bull. Woweffect progeny has also represented us well at auction, with both sons and daughters topping our sales string at past events. With so many relatives in our herd, both maternal and paternal, we are very confident in the genetics that make up Noelle.

Originally my veto for this year’s sale, Dennis convinced me that we cannot keep all of our Paula daughters, we do need to sell one occasionally. (He owes me!) Paulina is a beautiful heifer who carries her mother’s profile and her father’s colouring. She has inherited her lovely disposition from both. The youngest of this year’s sales string, she will develop into a big, strong cow, just like her mother. She is easy to find in the pasture, just look for the one posing with her head up, showing her sparkle! She is definitely worth your time on sale day!

Our first Delmonte daughters showcase exactly what we were hoping for when we added him to our herd. They display a little more frame, with lots of style and stage presence. Delmonte’s progeny are frequently caught posing, with their heads up (but not always when we have a camera handy!). On the maternal side, Brienne is out of Applecross Bianca, a young, red, star headed cow who was Dennis’s favourite as an open heifer. She carries some older, proven genetices, going back to Seldom, C&B Western, King Arthur and Broadway. Brienne is a nicely put together female, with lots of pigment, who will be a great addition to any herd.

We have long admired the consistency and power of the Wolfe Fleckvieh bred heifers that are often stabled beside us at Equation. We jumped at the opportunity to select Dawn, back in 2017, and are pleased to showcase her Kitimat daughter for consideration in this years’ sale. Yvonne was Cody from Transcon’s pick when he toured the heifers this fall, and her unique combination of massive volume with tremendous eye appeal will be on full display on sale day.

Bred AI March 23 to FGAF Guerrero 810Y P748277. No exposure. Preg check safe. Homozygous Polled Full Fleckvieh. Rose is a smaller framed heifer, who is nicely put together. Rose represents the fourth generation from one of our founding cow families; her great grand dam, Dora Lee Jewel, made the trek from Ontario to Alberta in 2008. She has a quiet temperament and is extremely easy to work with in a pen or in the field. Bred for an early January calving date, and with no exposure, she will be very heavy in calf on sale day.

Parview Stock Farms and Radcliffe Simmentals would like to welcome everyone to the Fleckvieh Equation/Red & Black Sale and thank all our past buyers. Parview Stock Farms has been selling in this sale since 2009 and now my boys Gavin and Thane are selling their first animals under the name of Radcliffe Simmentals. The name Radcliffe, was registered by my father, Murray Parker, in 1969, so it’s nice to see Gavin and Thane being able to carry the name on. Our cattle are heavily evaluated and culled on disposition, udder quality and foot/ bone structure.

Open. Here’s a 100% Fleckvieh heifer out of Lone Stone Oil Baron and a LRX Jiro daughter. 867F is a moderate female and comes from a long line of proven genetics. Her picture doesn’t do her justice as she was being rather quiet on picture day and we couldn’t get her to stand correctly…saying that, her picture does show her extreme length which is coming from both Oil Baron and Jiro.

Welcome to the 2019 edition of the Fleckvieh Equation. We are happy to once again be part of this great event with a great group of consignors and work with the Transcon crew. With Rebecca being pregnant and due this Alberta Simmental Weekend, we decided to scale back and bring a couple heifer calves that should be easier for her to wash than breds. Both of these girls are off the top end of the heifer pen and we are excited to watch them develop at their new homes. Merry Christmas!

Flair is calf that had us excited from the moment she hit the ground. She quickly developed into a standout and was a favorite of visitors all summer. A female with tremendous rib shape and mass, coupled with angularity and style. These are the types that turn into production powerhouses. Her dam was the high seller of Pasture Treasures and has not skipped a beat producing Ducati that serviced the Parview, Virginia and Spruceburn heifer pens, a daughter to Starwest that is already proving herself by putting a top bull in their pen and a young heifer to Cathryn Jones. The cross with Jeremiah adds a long list of Fleckvieh matrons into the pedigree that only adds to the intrigue.

Open. Don’t let the name fool you, this is one sweet heifer. She has a cool look combining muscle shape, depth of body, and structural correctness with a cherry red color pattern and loads of hair. Nemesis might carry one of the closest resemblances to her great grand dam, She Devil, that we’ve had. She’s an embryo daughter of the past Equation high seller Deloriss who is already making a huge exclamation mark with her production. Her first daughter was a feature and high seller in our string at Pasture Treasures selling to Rich Mc. Nemesis also has a set of head turning flush brothers at Stouts that are outstanding. The cross with Elevation was an easy choice that stacked two outstanding young breeding prospects together with productive lineage in every corner of the pedigree.

Welcome to the 2019 Fleck Equation. On display for you are five of our top breds. We feel these heifers will go out and do great things for their new owners. We would like to say a huge thank you to all our previous bidders and buyers and we look forward to seeing everyone again!
Kuntz Duramax 12D I cannot say enough great things about Duramax! We purchased Duramax from Kuntz Simmentals in their 2017 sale for $19,000.
