Welcome Welcome to the summer edition of Grosvenor Connection. I hope you are enjoying all the events that are making London the Capital of the World in 2012. Alongside the usual round-up of industry news and the competitions that you seem to love, this issue will introduce you to our recent recruit Minal Patel. Minal brings a wealth of experience in leisure travel planning, which as you know is quite different from the Business Travel that you associate with Grosvenor. If you need help deciding where to go, or how to put your (or your bosses) holiday together in the most effective, economic way then please do speak to Minal. On a personal note, when asked about my favourite trip, I always find myself thinking of the Star Clipper cruise ships. This really is cruising with a difference: for a start they are proper sailing ships (think Cutty Sark); they only take about 150 passengers and they can visit places the big liners cannot get close to. In between visits to historic ports they often stop in the ocean for impromptu swimming and all water-sports are included. Dining is excellent but very informal – in Thailand we had a fantastic barbeque under the palm trees on an uninhabited island. What is also really attractive is the cosmopolitan crowd that seem to be attracted to this sort of trip – families, silver surfers, honeymooners, upmarket backpackers, diving nuts – they are all on board – we even met one of the writers of “Pirates of the Caribbean” who was there to try and capture the flavour of life at sea! Four flights a day to JFK On 28 October, Virgin Atlantic will launch a fourth daily service from London Heathrow to New York JFK. The new service will complement their existing schedule, providing passengers with convenient and flexible travel options and greater connection choices than ever before. Timings for the new service are designed to give seamless connections onto other routes via London, such as Delhi, Dubai and African destinations.

Air Canada: A Celebratory Year Air Canada, Canada's flagship carrier, is enjoying a year long celebration during 2012 to mark their 75th anniversary. News in brief British Airways’ owner, IAG has taken ownership of bmi mainline, giving travellers access to more destinations, better frequencies and more seats. It also means new routes and new, more convenient schedules in the future. It is business as usual for both bmi mainline and British Airways so travellers can continue to book and fly with confidence. British Airways plan to operate bmi’s London Heathrow summer schedule and their flights remain available through Grosvenor Travel Management. Want to work or relax in a peaceful environment? Book Eurostar's new quiet coaches Eurostar, is introducing a new quiet coach facility on board all of its trains for travel from September 2012. Passengers booking Business Premier and Standard Premier tickets for travel from September 11th onwards can choose a seat at no extra cost in a dedicated quiet coach at the time of booking. This service is being introduced in direct response to customer requests for the option of a quieter environment in which to work or wind down during their journey. At a glance: • Seats in quiet coaches are available to book now for travel from 11 September 2012 • A free service available to Business Premier and Standard Premier customers when they select a seat in coach 8 or 11. • The quiet coaches will provide a peaceful environment where people can use their time on board as they wish, be it for work or relaxation. • The quiet coach service is strictly subject to availability. The arrival of quiet coaches is the latest in a range of enhancements being introduced to Eurostar’s flagship business service this year.

Mobile telephone service installed in the Channel Tunnel Eurotunnel, the owners of the Channel Tunnel, in partnership with France Telecom, have installed 2G and 3G telephone system which allows high speed rail passengers the opportunity to use their mobile telephones inside the Channel Tunnel. Offering a wi-fi service 100 meters below sea level it is a world first. Minal Patel Minal joined Grosvenor Travel at the end of 2011, she brought with her a copious amount of knowledge and experience having worked in professional travel management and tourism for over 16 years. During that time Minal has worked within a variety of travel disciplines from handling corporate business accounts in the media and wine industries, to providing bespoke luxury private travel for leisure clientèle. Minal describes herself as someone who is passionate about travel, dedicated to providing the highest level of service and detail to find the right holiday and events for clients. We are thrilled Minal is now part of our team.

What do you enjoy most about working at Grosvenor? Being part of a strong team along with the everyday camaraderie and friendship within the office. Every day we go the extra mile to take care of our customers' travel arrangements, down to the last detail.

What do you do in your spare time? As I have a young energetic family, and live in the Garden of England of Kent, I mainly enjoy outdoor activities. I particularly enjoy walking around National Trust locations and cycling around Kent. I go to Theatre shows in the West End and I also love the motor sport world of F1. Attending home interior exhibitions is another one of my favourite past-times!

How will you be celebrating Christmas and the New Year? Monaco! Monaco has a special place in my heart. I honeymooned there and it has the best Grand Prix in the world. With its fast cars, glamour and great atmosphere, it is 'The' place to be seen in!! Chateau Eza is one of my most favourite places I have visited. It is an enchanting hotel - over 400 metres above the Mediterranean sea - and it's restaurant provides breathtaking views of the Cote d'Azur It was memorable birthday treat to go there!
