Panel Discussion and Q&A: “Equality = Profitability: The UK-Russia Experience” Panel Moderator: Ayuna Nechaeva Head of Europe, Primary Markets, London Stock Exchange Group Ayuna runs London Stock Exchange’s deal origination team across all of Europe, including Ireland, Russia and the CIS. In the course of 10 years at LSEG, Ayuna has worked on dozens of high-profile IPOs and listings across all sectors. Ayuna’s team manages a portfolio of over 240 listed companies with the total market value of over $1 trillion. In September 2019, Ayuna was elected Co-Chair of LSEG’s Women Inspired Network UK Chapter and Treasurer at Spectrum, LSEG’s LGBT+ Network. Ayuna holds a Master’s in International Business from Grenoble Graduate School of Business and MA in Linguistics & Intercultural Communications from the Moscow State University. Ayuna was shortlisted for the 2018 Asian Women of Achievement Award in Business Category; and featured in Management Today’s 35 under 35 Women in Management in 2017.

Emily Olson Vice President, BP Russia Emily is accountable for government relations, communications and corporate affairs. She is responsible for managing key political and business relationships in Moscow, London, Berlin, Washington D.C. and Brussels. In addition, Emily supports the BP executive team and BP board on matters related to our Russia business. Emily joined BP in 2009 and has held senior roles in Washington D.C, Houston and London. Most recently, Emily was the vice president of communications and external affairs for the Southern Gas Corridor, where she held accountability for the political and external relations in the delivery of Shah Deniz and the Southern Gas Corridor. Additionally, she served as Chief of Staff to the deputy group chief executive as well as the Chairman of the Board.

Prior to BP, Emily spent over a decade in Washington D.C. working for the US Congress focusing on developing energy and transportation policy.


Alisa Grafton Partner, Cheeswrights LLP Alisa is a Partner at Cheeswrights LLP, a reputable firm of Scrivener Notaries, legal professionals specialising in cross-border transactions. Being only the second female partner in the 240 years’ history of the firm, she credits her professional success to her proactive approach to business development and networking. Formerly an active member of the Board and the Director of Marketing & Communications at City Women Network, she has a passion for establishing and nurturing connections with a wide range of professionals inside and outside of the law and on creating a positive personal brand. In 2015-2018 she ran the City Blog for BBC Russian Service where she spoke candidly about the challenges of being a busy City parent. She frequently speaks on the practical aspects of effective networking and the effective use of empathy, creativity and emotional intelligence as career and business tools.

Alya Samokhvalova Deputy CEO, Petropavlovsk Alya Samokhvalova is Deputy Chief Executive Officer and a Member of the Safety, Sustainability and Workforce Committee of the Board of Directors. In addition, Dr Samokhvalova joined the Company in 2002 and is now Head of the Company’s Corporate Office. She is also a Non-Executive Director of the RBCC and a member of the Global Advisory Board of Cass Business School.

On-stage Interview with Tara Cemlyn-Jones interviewed by Matthew Townsend Tara Cemlyn-Jones Founder & Principal Advisor, TCJ Tintech Advisory Tara Cemlyn-Jones has over 27 years’ experience in financial services, across capital markets, M&A advisory and tech including Schroders/Citigroup and Espirito Santo Investment Bank/Haitong Securities (China) where she was Head of International Capital Markets, lastminute.com as Head of M&A/Strategy and now her own fintech advisory practice. Tara has worked with government and corporates, financial institutions and regulators across the UK, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, CEE, Middle East, India, Hong Kong and Japan, Latin America and Southern Africa, and now, after 17 years with overseas coverage, has returned to London, where she is also active on various diversity & inclusion initiatives, having founded the women’s networking group for senior women executives in finance and tech, across private and public sectors.

Interviewer Matthew Townsend Senior Partner, Allen & Overy Matt is a Senior Partner at Allen & Overy LLP and based in their London office. He is Global Co-Head of A&O’s International Trade and Regulatory Law Group and has spent over 25 years working with large multinational corporates and financial institutions on a wide range of regulatory issues. Matt advises on matters such as international sanctions, trade and export controls; WTO/FTA restrictions; anti-bribery and anti-money laundering compliance; supply chain risks; ESG and corporate risk governance. He has extensive experience advising on compliance and regulatory matters in Russia (for both Russian clients and inward investors). Matt also forms part of a core group of A&O Partners advising clients on the implications of Brexit and associated contingency planning. He is recognised as a leading regulatory lawyer and is a regular commentator on sanctions, trade, Brexit and other issues.
