Building dependable networks wherein people from the working classes and the less fortunate segments of the society can pool their skills, efforts, and resources to create a collective strength that will facilitate the fast progress of their individual socio-economic life is what the Rellon-Gementiza Administration is esteeming and persistently promoting in the City of Tagum since the beginning of its governance. Through its Cooperatives, NGOs, GOs, and POs Development Unit under the City Mayor’s Office, the city government has been effective in empowering Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) by entering in various joint ventures and other collaborative arrangements with cooperatives and non-government organizations to initiate programs which will contribute to their over-all development. Programs that focus on blazing the spirit of cooperativism here in the city are successfully implemented by the local government based on the premise that these civil society groups once empowered can strongly promote the alleviation of poverty and income inequality and can be an exponent to the advocacies pushed by the local government.
