REQUIREMENTS: YARN: 10-ounces of 4-ply Knitting Worsted NEEDLES: 1-pr #3 single pointed. 1-pr #5 single pointed. CROCHET HOOK: 1-Bone #5. GAUGE: 11 sts to 2-inches. 15 rows to 2-inches. BACK: With the #3 needles cast on 64 (72) sts and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2, for 2 ¼ inches. Now change to the #5 needles and work in stockinette stitch (k 1 row, p 1 row) until the piece' measures 9 (9 ½) inches in all, or as long as you need up to the underarm. UNDERARM BIND OFFS: Bind off 4 (5) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, (once at each side). Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every knit row 3 (3) times. ARMHOLE SHAPING: With the right side of the work facing you bind off 4 (5) sts once. Keeping the sts in the pattern, decrease 1 stitch at the armhole edge (that is where you first bound off) every other row 4 (3) times. Work in the pattern until the armhole measures 3 ½ (4) inches above the underarm. NECK SHAPING: From the neck edge (opposite armhole bind off), bind off 9 (9) sts once. Decrease 1 stitch at the neck edge every row 5 (6) times. When the armhole measures 4 ž (5) inches above the underarm start the SHOULDER SHAPING: From the armhole edge bind off 8 (9) sts twice. RIGHT FRONT: Work as the left front up to the underarm. Do the bind offs at the opposite sides, start the armhole with the wrong side of the work facing you. LONG SLEEVES: With the #3 needles cast on 36 (40) sts. Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 2 inches. Now change to the #5 needles and work in stockinette stitch, increase 1 stitch at each side of the work every inch, until you have 50 (54) sts on the needle. Now work even until the sleeve measures 11 (12) inches, or as long as you need up to the underarm. SHAPING CAP or SLEEVE: Bind off 4 (5) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, (once at each side). Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every knit row 9 (10) times. Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every row 4 (4) times. Bind off the remaining sts. FINISHING: Sew shoulder underarm and sleeve seams. Sew sleeves into armhole, matching the underarm seams and easing in any fullness towards the top. CROCHETING BORDER: With the right side of the work facing you, tie yarn at the bottom of the right front and work in s c along the front edge, (keeping the work flat) to neck edge; 3 s c in corner st, s c around neck, shaping to fit, 3 s c in corner st, s c down the left front. Chain 1 turn. 2nd row: 1 s c in each stitch, placing 3 s c in corner st, 1 s c around neck in each st, 3 s c in corner st. BUTTONHOLE ROW: * Chain 3 sts, skip 2 sts, 1 s c in each of the next 6 sts, repeat from * down the right front. Chain 1, turn. 3rd row: 1 s c in each stitch, placing 2 s c over the chain 3 space. Complete the row. Break yarn. EMBROIDERY: With the contrasting color, over the knit 2 sts at the beginning of the pattern, over cast twice. EXPLANATION: * Bring needle to the left of the knit 2 sts; bring down at the right side of k 2 sts, repeat once more, tie knot at the back. * Repeat between stars at each pattern.

GAUGE: 7 ½ sts to an inch, 9 rows make an inch. PATTERN STITCH FOR SIZE 2: Row 1: * p 1 k 4, repeat from * across row, ending with p 1. Row 2: Purl across row. Repeat these 2 rows for pattern. PATTERN STITCH FOR SIZE 3: Row 1: * k 4, p 1, repeat from * across row, ending with k 4. Row 2: Purl across row. Repeat these 2 rows for the pattern. BACK: Using the #2 needles cast on 76 (84) sts, and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2, for 1 ½ (1 ½) inches. Change to the #4 needles and work in the given pattern for size being made, until the piece measures 7 ½ (8 ½) inches from the ribbing. Place a colored thread at each end of the work, as a marker. Continue in the pattern until the piece measures 12 ½ (14) inches in all; ending with the right side of the work facing you for this row. NEXT ROW: Work across 21 (25) sts, bind off loosely the next 34 sts, for the back of neck. Work across the remaining 21 (25) sts. Work in garter stitch (knit every row) for ¾ inches. Now work in the pattern for ¾ (¾) inches. At the neck edge cast on 20 (20) sts. Keeping 7 sts at the front edge in garter stitch, work the remainder of the piece in the pattern stitch, until the piece measures 7 (8) inches from the marker. Place a marker at this point, (you will pick up sleeve sts between these markers). Continue in the pattern until the piece measures 11 (12 ½) inches from the back of the neck. Change to the #2 needles end work in ribbing of k 2, p 2, still keeping the border sts in garter stitch, for 1 ½ (1 ½) Inches. Bind off knitting the k sts; purling the purl sts. RIGHT FRONT: BOTH SIZES: Tie yarn at the neck edge and work to correspond to the left front. BUTTONHOLES: Make the first one 2 inches from where you cast on the neck sts. Made as follows: From the front edge, knit 2 sts, bind off 2 sts; finish the row. NEXT ROW: Work back to where you bound off the sts, cast on 2 sts, knit last 2 sts. Repeat buttonhole every 2 inches. SLEEVE PATTERN: SIZE 2: Row 1: * k 4, p 1, repeat from * across row, ending with k 4. Row 2: Purl all across row. Repeat these 2 rows for pattern. NEEDLES: 1-pr, #3 single pointed. 1-pr, #5 single pointed. STITCH HOLDER. GAUGE: 6 sts to an inch. PATTERN: Rows 1, 2, 3 and 4: Knit across row. Row 5: * p 2, k 4, repeat from * across row ending with p 2. Row 6: * K 2, p 4, repeat from * across row, ending with k 2. Row 7: Repeat row 5. Row 8:Repeat row 6. Row 9: * p 2, slip the next 2 sts onto a dble pt needle and hold in back of work, knit the next 2 sts, knit the 2 sts off the dble pt needle; p 2, k 4, repeat from * across row. Row 10: Repeat row 6.Row 11: Repeat row 5. Row 12: Repeat row 6. Repeat these 12 rows for the pattern, working cable in alternate knit 4 ribs. BACK: Using the #3 needles cast on 80 (86) sts and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 2 ½ (2 ½) inches. Then change to the larger needles and work in the above pattern for the remainder of the sweater. Work until the piece measures 10 ½ (11) inches in all, or as long as you need up to the underarm. UNDERARM BIND OFF AND SHAPING: bind off 3 (4) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, (once at each side.) Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every other row 2 (3) times. Keeping the pattern, work until the armhole measures 5 ¾ (6) inches above the first underarm bind off. SHOULDER SHAPING:Bind off 5 (7) sts at the beginning of the next 8 (6) rows. Change to the smaller needle and on the remaining sts work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for ¾ inches. Bind off loosely, knitting the knit sts, purling the purl sts. FRONT: Work exactly as the back until the armhole measures 3 ¾ (4) inches above the underarm. NECK SHAPING: Work over 22 (22) sts, leave on the needle, place the remaining sts onto a st holder. On the sts that are on the needle; decrease 1 stitch at the neck edge every other row 2 (2) times. When the armhole measures the same as the back, from the armhole edge, bind off 5 (5) sts 4 times. Break yarn. Take 22 (22) sts from the armhole edge from st holder, back onto the needle and tie yarn in. Work to correspond to other shoulder. LONG SLEEVES: With the #3 needles cast on 44 (44) sts and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 2 ½ (2 ¾) inches. Now change to the #5 needles and start the ribbing as follows: 1st row: * P 2, k 4, repeat from * across row, ending with p 2. 2nd row: * k 2, p 4, repeat from * across row, ending with k 2. Work in ribbing, increase 1 stitch at each side of the work every one inch until you have 58 (60) sts on the needle. Work even until the sleeve measures 11 ½ (13) inches in all, or as long as you need up to the underarm.


UNDERARM AND CAP SHAPING: Bind off 4 (4) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, (once at each side). Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every other row until 30 (30) sts remain. Bind off 2 sts at the beginning of the next 6 (6) rows. Bind off all sts. MAKE THE OTHER SLEEVE THE SAME WAY. FINISHING: Front Neck Band: With the #3 needles and with the right side of the work facing you pick up and knit 70 sts; work in ribbing for the same amount as the back. Bind off loosely. Sew shoulder, side seams. Sew sleeve seams and sew sleeves into the armhole, matching the underarm seams and easing in any fullness towards the top.

UNDERARM SHAPING: Bind off 4 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every 3rd row, 8 times. PATTERN: 1st row: Knit. 2nd row: Purl. 3rd row: Knit. 4th row:Purl. 5th row: Knit. 6th row: Purl. 7th row: Knit. 8th row: Knit. BACK: Using the #2 needles cast on 72 (76) sts and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 1 ¼ (1 ½) inches. Now change to the #5 needles and work in the above pattern until the piece measures 8 (8 ½) inches from the beginning, or as long as you need up to the underarm. Bind off 2 (2) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. (once at each side). Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every other row 2 (2) times. Then work even until the armhole measures 4 (4 ½) inches from the bind off. SHOULDERS: bind off 6 (5) sts at the beginning of the next 6 (8) rows. Place the remaining sts onto a st holder to be worked later for the neck band. FRONT: Work exactly as the back until the armhole measures 3 ½ (3 ½) inches above the underarm. NEEDLES: 1-pr. #3 single pointed; 1-pr. #5 single pointed. GAUGE: 5 ½ sts to an inch. BACK: Using the #3 needles cast on 78 sts and work in ribbing of knit 2, purl 2, for 3 inches. Now change to the #5 needles and work as follows:PATTERN: ROW 1: K 12 sts, * p 2, k 8, p 2, k 8, repeat from * across row, ending with knit 12 sts. ROW 2: P 12 sts, * k 2, p 8, k 2, p 8, repeat from * across row, ending with p 12 sts. ROW 3: Repeat row 1.ROW 4: Repeat row 2. ROW 5: Repeat row 1. ROW 6: Repeat row 2.ROW 7: (Cable stitch row). K 12 sts, * p 2, slip the next 2 sts onto a dble pt needle and hold in BACK of the work, knit the next 2 sts, knit the 2 sts off the dble pt needle; slip the next 2 sts onto a dble pt needle and hold in FRONT of work, knit the next 2 sts, knit the 2 sts off the dble pt needle; p 2, k 8, repeat from * across row, ending with k 12 sts. Work even in the pattern until the piece measures 10 inches or as long as you want to the underarm. UNDERARM SHAPING: Bind off 6 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, (once at each side). Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every other row 5 times. Now work even until the armhole measures 6 ½ inches above the underarm. Then on the next row, from the right side of the work start the V-NECK SHAPING: Work over one half of the sts, (27); place the remaining 27 sts onto a stitch holder. Working on the first half keeping the pattern, decrease 1 stitch at the neck edge every other row 13 times. When the armhole measures 6 ½ inches above the underarm start the SHOULDER SHAPING: From the armhole edge bind off 7 sts twice. Break yarn. Tie yarn at the other half of the sts, and place back onto the needle, work to correspond to the first half. NECK BAND: With the #3 needles, working from the right side of the work, pick up and knit 43 sts from the left shoulder down to the center of the neck; mark the center with a colored thread; pick up and knit 43 sts from center to right shoulder. NEXT ROW: Work across row, in ribbing of k 2, p 2. NEXT ROW: Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the colored thread, while doing the ribbing. Repeat this row every other time. Do ribbing for ¾ inches. Bind off knitting the k sts; purling the purl sts. Sew the shoulders.


ARMHOLE BANDS: With the right side of the work facing you, pick up and knit 96 sts from one end of the armhole to the other. Work in ribbing k 2, p 2 for 他 inches. Bind off as on the neck bands. Sew the underarm seams.

SIZE 10 (12) YEAR REQUIREMENTS: YARN: 10-Ounces of Regular Sport Yarn. NEEDLES: 1-pr. #1 single pointed; 1-pr. #3 single pointed. STITCH HOLDER.


GAUGE: 7 sts to an inch. 9 rows to an inch. BACK: Using the #1 needles cast on 104 (108) sts and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2, for 3 (3 ½) inches. Now change to the #3 needles and continue in the same ribbing until the piece measures 12 (13) inches, or as long as you need up to the underarm. With the right side of the work facing you, bind off 5 (5) sts at the beginning of the row, knit remainder of the row. Bind off 5 (5) sts at the beginning of the next row, purl the remainder of the row. Decrease 1 st at each side of the work every other row 4 (5) times, at the same time working in the yoke pattern as follows: * Knit 2 rows, p 1 row, repeat from * for remainder of the yoke. After the decreases, work until the armhole measures 6 (6 ¼) inches from the bind off. SHOULDERS: Bind off 9 (9) sts at the beginning of the next 4 rows; bind off 8 (9) sts twice. On the remaining sts, change to the #1 needles and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for ¾ inches. Bind off loosely, knitting the knit sts, purling the purl sts, FRONT: Work as the back until the armhole measures 4 (4) inches above the first underarm bind off. Work over 32 (33) sts, place the remaining sts onto a st holder; working on the sts that are on the needle and in the yoke pattern, decrease 1 stitch at the neck edge every other row 6 (6) times. Then when the armhole measures the same as the back, from the armhole edge bind off 9 (9) sts twice; 8 (9) sts once. Break yarn. Take 32 (33) sts from the armhole edge onto the needle, tie yarn in. and work to correspond to the other shoulder. NECK BAND: With the right side of the work facing you, pick up and knit 68 sts around the front neck. Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2, for the same amount of rows as on the back. Bind off loosely. LONG SLEEVES: Using the #1 needles cast on 48 (52) sts and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 3 (3 ¼) inches. Now change to the #3 needles and still keeping the same ribbing for the remainder of the sleeve. Increase 1 stitch at each side of the work every ¾ (¾) inches until you have 64 (68) sts on the needle. Then work even until the sleeve measures 16 ½ (17 ½) inches, or as long as you need up to the underarm. Bind off 5 (5) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. (Once at each side). Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every other row until 28 sts remain on the needle. Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every row until 22 (24) sts remain on the needle. Bind off. MAKE THE OTHER SLEEVE THE SAME WAY.

Size 1 and 2 Year Old REQUIREMENTS: YARN: 4 ounces of 4-ply Knitting Worsted. 3-½ ounce balls of Angora. NEEDLES: 1-pr. #3 single pointed. 1-pr. #5 single pointed.


CROCHET HOOK: l-Bone #5. NOTE: If sweater is made with all yarn, add 2 ounces more to above requirement. GAUGE: 5 ½ sts to an inch. BACK: Using the #3 needles cast on 58 (62) sts, work in ribbing of k 1, p 2, for 1 ½ (1 ¼) inches. Now change to the #5 needles and work in stockinette stitch until the piece measures 7 ½ (8) inches in all, or as long as you want up to the underarm. UNDERARM SHAPING: Bind off 3 (3) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, (once at each side.) Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every other row 3 limes. GAUGE: 4 sts to an inch. 6 rows to an inch. BACK: Using the #5 needles cast on 58 (62) sts. Work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 4 inches. Now change to the #9 needles and work in stockinette stitch until the piece measures 10 ½ (11) inches in all, or as long as you wish up to the underarm. UNDERARM SHAPING: Bind off 3 (3) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, once at each side. Now decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every other row 2 (3) times. Work even until the armhole measures 6 (6 ½) inches above the underarm. SHOULDERS: Bind off 5 (5) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, bind off 4 (4) sts at the beginning of the next 4 rows. Change to the smaller needles and work across row, increasing 4 sts. Work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 5 rows. Bind off very loosely. Work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 4 inches. Now change to the #9 needles and work in stockinette stitch, increasing 1 stitch at each side of the work every 7th (8th) row until you have 46 (48) sts. Work even until the sleeve measures 15 ½ (16 ½) inches in all, or as long as you need up to the underarm. SHAPING: Bind off 3 (3) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every other row until 22 (22) sts remain on the needle. Bind off 2 sts at the beginning of every row until 10 sts remain. Bind off. Make the 2nd sleeve the same way. FINISHING: With the finer needle pick up and knit 46 sts around the front of the neck. Work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 5 rows. Bind off loosely. Sew shoulder, side seams, sleeve seams. Sew sleeves into armhole matching the underarm seams.
