The old train station in Alicante was a big infrastructure project built in the XVIII th century far away from the city centre. In the past decades, the city has grown and absorbed it leaving an irregular gap in the city’s masterplan that creates problematic borders and unpleasent spaces. The new train station, as in many

cities around Europe, has been built underground and far from the city centre. Due to the huge trace left empty above the surface and the lack of green spaces in the city (only two parks, one being a historical castle), it becomes a perfect landmark for a new park and public facilities like a new Library, Elderly home and intermodal Transport Station.

TICKETS/OFFICES metro/train/bus TICKETS/OFFICES

The project was to focus on the intermodal transport station, combining metro station, shuttle train to the new train station, buses (urban and metropolitan) and taxi, turning into a focal point in the city. There was also a need to create an Urban plaza and retail stores as well as an outdoor art exihibition space.

The solution was to create a fluid form concrete roof to provide shadow (Alicante has a hot climate for almost 9 months of the year) along a promenade that guides towards specific locations within the new project. As a reference to the old train tracks, there was thin walking or cycling tracks, that intersect with eachother and take you through nature.

fishing boats in the 17th century and has evolved into the second largest industrial port of Europe. In 2007, Valencia hosted events like the America’s Cup sailing competition or the F1 Europe GP, which led to one of the port’s biggest

morphology changes in recent history. Due to the lack of modern infrastructure, the teams of America’s Cup had to build large metallic containers that disrupted the front water line. The goal in this project is to liberate the front line and give that space back to the people through masterplan operations, make the port an articulator of activities.

1. THE CONNECTION WITH THE BEACH. The beach is interrupted by a metal barrier that has to be wiped out for it to connect and reactivate the port. 2. INTERRUPTION OF THE CITY. Three large buildings are blocking the connection of the city with the port. These old housing buildings have to be removed in order to recycle urban plaza and gain space for the people. 3. RIVERSIDE PARK. Infrastructures cut off the flow of circulations coming from the river. There is a need to reduce traffic and create connections to reactivate the port. 4. TRAFFIC. There is a traffic knot that needs to be simplified. 5. INDUSTRIAL PORT. It has a large presence. Railways and over ground connections shut off any public access. There is a need to reduce it’s presence to be able to reactivate the port.

NEW PROJECT By adding new surface to the front line, we create three new docks that are connected with three zones. A sports zone, at the north, the river in the south and the new public space in the east.

The multipurpose space for crowds is placed on one of the new docks added in the project. It’s used to create a focal point for public users and to attract activity to the other border of the port. It’s main objective is flexibility. Time passes and needs change so the building has been projected that way.

Various roof platforms at different heights enclose flexible metacrylate spaces with 3 different closing solutions in order from most to least permanent. The function proposed in the project is cafeteria, open crowd space (concerts, shows,etc...), auditorioum (closed space for cinema, theatre,..) and multipurpose rooms. Urban garden plaza_Small scale intervention

Mislata is a small village outside Valencia, it’s crossed by a high density motorway, this situation makes it very important to create private green spaces, to isolate users from the exterior. The objective in this project is to create a garden with noises, textures, colors, ambient smells and even tastes.

To be able to separate the inside of the plaza from the roads is to effectively create small green hills, so that people can sit, talk, interact, play, sleep, on top of. For that there is a variety of vegetation for each season, water ponds and other elements that make the people forget their surroundings.

Apartment renovation_bedroom+studio open concept

This was an old 60 m2 appartment in the centre of Zaragoza. It was used as a real estate office. The goal was to change function from office to living. Glass allows sunlight to invade the appartment and articulates all the different rooms. We suggested that the artificial light could come from the top and botom of the glass walls

Chambon Sur Lignon_France Concept: “Personne ne m’a demandé d’ou je viens et ou je vais” Author: Claire-Jeanne Jezequel (artist), Jaime Fuentes

#Transport #Housing #Leisure #Landscape #Masterplan #Renovation #Concept #Lighting #Constructive #Competition #Indesign#Illustrator #CAD #3DS MAX#Sketchup#Vray #Photoshop#Relux Chambon-sur-Lignon is a village that protected fugitives during World War II. They hid jews and helped them escape. The village is recognised world wide, and the artist ClaireJeanne Jezequel’s grandfather took great part in it. The project is a isualization and building project of an aluminum Sculpture for the Jewish memorial. The idea of the artist was to recreate the river LIgnon’s curves like the lifes of jewish fugitives in France, and crossed by perpendicular vectors to remark the point where the river ponds. Based on the verses of Leonard Cohen’s “The partisan”

Light and Limits workshop_Ceramic workshop

Valencia_Spain Concept: Light and shadow hinges Author: Jaime Fuentes, Cristian GarcĂa

This project was the result of a workshop in the university of Valencia (ETSAV). The goal was to explore the limits of light through the design of a piece made with ceramic. We chose to create ceramic hinges that could interact with the user, that could modify it depending on the position of the sun (for shade) or the ligh needs (at night).

NON-DETERMINISTIC LIGHTING FOR NON-DETERMINISTIC ARCHITECTURE

DETERMINISM “all physical event [...] is

NON-DETERMINISM

“physical events are not determined

by a linear process[...] but by a NON-LINEAR PROCESS, this is by CHANCE, but not without any causes, more like a NON

NON-DETERMINISTIC ARCHITECTURE This architectural layout as well as its philosophy is open to change, time alteration and random events, it’s based on the

CONCEPT

Life inside a building is shown through it’s holes (windows, doors, etc...). This project is inspired by university life, it changes depending on the time of day and the activities inside the university.

STATIC

The school’s facade i divided into two volumes. One is a rigid static piece that never changes. Built in stone and ceramic , it’s a base for monument lighting.

SITUATIONS

Wall washers on the windows to emulate isnside life. They are controlable individually to create different scenes like St. Patrick’s day, Breast cancer day or any other.

DYNAMIC

Holes in the facade are windows to life inside. Different scenes are created deppending on time of day and inside activity

07.00-19.00

Sun light is present. Base artificial lighting comes on when sun light is not enough.

19.00-21.30

Sun light goes down and the activity inside decreases, thus the light in the windows decreases from top to bottom.

21.30-22.30

School closes. No activity in the top floors. Lighting focusses on the exit door thresholds.

22.30-07.00

Standard monumental building lighting comes on until the life inside comes back.
