2.2 PROTOTYPES Before confirming my design project, I spent most of my time on testing the best dimension of the object and light effects.

Through this process, I can figure out the ultimate design specifications.


2.2.1 PROTOTYPE PHASE 1

1-2 DMX & Max Phidget Purpose:Simulating a motherboard.

1-4~6 IR distance Sensing >Phidget Inetrface >Webcam>Projector

Purpose:Demonstrate the Zoom-in/out function. By this means, it could measure human face’s distance from the mirror.Transform the information to the Phidget Interface(1-3). By the values written in the software, it could command the webcam(1-5) to get human face images and project on the reflective plastic sheet (1-7). I simulate the mirror reflection result by this, because in this mock-up status, I prefer making modles fast ,so no real see- through -mirror yet.

1-8 LED Stripes & Diffuser

I put some paper on the LED stripe as a diffuser to diminish the brightness.

1-9 Touch sensor

2 sensors were put on the right hand side of the card-board-housing for better user experience purpose, because most human are right-handed. The upper one dims up the light ; and the other one dims down the light. Sensors are connected to the Max Phidget interface(1-3).

The dimension was 20*20(cm) square. I have tried bigger and smaller sizes, and chose that 20**20 is the best.

(10~11)Auto-zoom:The mirror auto-zooms in when the user’s head moves toward it ; and it zooms out when the user moves away from it. So the user can do the detailed make up much more easy by the help of the auto-zoom function. (12~14)Pat on the press sensor on the top of the mirror to take pictures of yourself.

(18~19)Tap on light mode segment: sun, indoor, peach, apple, cold, disco, etc. (20~21) Hold and rotate clockwise(up) or counterclockwise(down).
