Blendr Menu

Creating an original cocktail lounge with a twist A project open to endless creativity. Challenged with imagining an original restaurant for which to design a professional menu for. I wanted to build an entirely unique, type of restaurant that was a bit humorous, while still maintaining a high-end, chic design. My inspiration was taken from a healthy, juice cleanse bar. I wanted to mimic the style of a juice shop to create a juxtaposition through the unlikely pairing of alcoholic and healthy drinks. This project has been referred to as, truly senior level work, for my ability to conceptualize, pursue, execute, and construct a menu design that likely exceeded my own original vision.

Osasun Magazine

Getting to know me through self-written articles and designs A magazine featuring me. Faced with the challenge of not only designing an eight page mini magazine, but also with writing one editorial article and one interview article. This project became more than just an exploration of editorial and publication design, but also an exploration of myself. Through use of an effective grid structure I successfully laid out the required elements of an eye-catching cover, informational article, interview article, three advertisements, and a creative piece. Intriguing use of typography and layout for headers and subheads was made consistent starting with the masthead.

Typeface Posters

Displaying the appeal of two classic fonts Tasked with creating two poster designs to display the history, type anatomy elements, and alphabet for one classic serif font and one sans-serif font. I took inspiration from the research I conducted about my selected fonts. For Bodoni, I aimed to take a minimalist approach with my colors to match the sleekness of the typeface. I was highly drawn to the fact that Bodoni is well recognized in the fashion industry for its use in the logo for Vogue Magazine. I carefully laid out this poster to represent a high end style. As for Avant Garde, I represented what avant garde art and fashion is itself, which is new and experimental ideas. Through unique color choices that I felt fit the avant garde theme as well as the placement of the letters and body copy.

Bodoni is a serif typeface created by Giambattista Bodoni in 1778. It is a Didone or modern design inspired by the font Baskerville. Bodoni features high stroke contrast with vertical stress and slight serif bracketing. It is highly recognizable Romantic typeface due to the centered tail on the “Q and the slight hook in the J. This font was widely accepted by printers making it a popular choice for logos, headlines, and posters. Bodoni is most notably recognized on the cover of Vogue Magazine, as well as on the album covers of Lady Gaga and Nirvana. Giambattista Bodoni was an Italian typographer, type-designer, compositor, printer, and publisher in Parma. He was initially inspired by the type-designs of Pierre Simon Fournier, but later found

Menemukan Resort & Villas Website Building a website for a luxurious, boutique hotel

For this project I set out to conceptualize a high end hotel that would feature a one-of-akind experience. I selected Earthy, clay tones to create a strong aesthetic for the “one with nature feel I was looking to convey. I intended to design a luxurious resort that would be the ideal vacation location for nature lovers who are looking to connect with nature through their stay. The constraints for this project required me to design an about page, contact page, and one category page that would lead to a detail page.

Wild Strawberries Tour Posters

Creating a series of concert posters for an artist’s tour

Given the objective to produce a series of three tour posters featuring different tour location stops for a select band or artist’s concert tour. When assigned this project I instantly knew I wanted to design posters for Felly, a young, up-and-coming artist whose concert tour I had attended the previous summer. There was an endless potential in terms of originality for this new artist. I took most of my inspiration from the artist himself, referencing his Instagram and the album artwork. I decided to illustrate minimalist, outline drawings of the artist himself overlaid on top of a strawberry pattern featured in different locations.

Neutraface Type Specimen Book Exploring one of the most extended font families to date

When presented the challenge of laying out an eight page type specimen book in which to display the history and functionality of a font I decided to choose a modern, sans serif, that featured several weights and styles. Neutraface, a font family containing two styles, six weights, bold, italics, small caps, and alternates, inspired me because of the size of its font family. I chose to showcase this element, through the use of a flip-book element that would provide an interactive method for the reader to see just how grand Neutraface is. My efforts to conceptualize and go above and beyond the basics earned the following concise, but very rewarding feedback, “incredible...just incredible.

Style & Gumption

Building brand cohesion for a local small business A client based project that delivered great success. Challenged with deciphering the wishes of a solo small business owner of handcrafted earrings, myself and my team were able to develop a clear sense of what the client needed in order to have a strong brand image. Utilizing her powerful story behind the reason for beginning this business, we carefully selected a new color palette to better reflect the natural, earthy theme of the handmade leather earrings. From there we expanded her brand to turn her story into beautiful, cohesive design elements to be used across all print collateral.

La Puerta Al Sur Corporate Cuisine

Producing vibrant graphics for a culinary pop-up event

Assigned to a team of JWU culinary student chefs, my teammate and I were asked to design several branded deliverables to be used to both advertise their pop-up event and serve as materials to be used at the event. Beginning with creating a unique, hand-lettered typographic font we conceptualized a fun, vibrant, theme that elevated the Latin American based pop-up. We took inspiration from the festive patterns seen in bracelets and blankets of the Latin American culture to produce a color scheme and pattern to be used on print elements. This speed round challenged my team as we only had two weeks to develop a concept, design the deliverables, and print all of the required elements. Additionally, we challenged ourselves to utilize the laser engraver, a tool which neither of us had experience with, in order to create a beautiful etching of our logo on a light colored piece of wood that would compliment our station menus and overall theme.

Kāmau Corporate Cuisine

Promoting a culinary pop-up with clean, modern layouts Working with my team to conceptualize a Hawaiian themed culinary pop-up event by the name of Kāmau. Our chef team wanted to avoid cliché Hawaiian style imagery to convey an upscale event. We used the Hawaiian theme as inspiration to select a modern, original color palette that toned back the typical bright, fluorescent pinks, blues, and oranges that are seen in Hawaiian imagery. To compliment the high-end feel that our chef team was looking for, we took professional photographs of the food that would be served at the event. Knowing that there would be little counter space to place the station menus, we decided to frame the menus to be hung up. To give the station tickets for the event a second purpose, we added a piece of hemp string with jungle inspired wooden beads. This allowed for the ticket to be a takeaway memory that could possibly be used as bookmark.
