Essence Mixed-Use Condo

By: Jaclyn Dyson, Ron Nguyen, Jimmy Su, Kegang Zheng

The site is located in Toronto’s downtown waterfront at the corner of Merchants Wharf and Queens Quay. As a team we wanted to create a unique looking building whereby the buildings provokes a natural and organic feel. We chose a white precast concrete for the facade and a faux cedar facade for the balconies. We maximized the glazing on the south and west elevations and placed windows only where required in the north and west elevations to maximize solar performance. The building is set up to be LEED certified. We created unique suites that give many options for all different types of buyers.

second and third floors for residential use. There is a parking garage in the basement as well which is intended to be used by customers who visit the stores and residents of the building. The purpose of this project was to create a multifucntional structure with a modern esthetic. We created large cantilevers to create a covered walkway for patrons of the commerical stores.

Thommy Thomson Park Interpretation Centre By: Jaclyn Dyson & Zach Shepherd The site is located in Toronto’s downtown waterfront in Thommy Thompson Park. The intended use of this structure is to create an exhibit space for the public to visit and an overnight education experience for school children. We wanted to create a building that would create a “wow” reaction from anyone who passes by the site. We used an organic configuration for the the exterior shape of the building. The curves represent the flow of the waves of Lake Ontario. The interior rooms in the building also use all organic configurations.

Acme Toy Production By: Jaclyn Dyson & Zach Shepherd

Although simple, this buildings intended use is for the production of Acme toys and office spaces for the company’s employees. The site is located in Vaughan, Ontario. We had to create a simplistic building with all of the zoning laws considered. We created a useful floor plans for the staff of Acme toys included an exclusive office space on the second floor for the president, vice president, and executives of the company. With all the clients considerations we delivered a technically and functionally sufficient stucture for the intended use of the company.

Lawrence Park Residential Project By: Jaclyn Dyson This project was inspired by creating a custom home in the residential area of Lawrence Park in Toronto, Ontario. The site is located at 24 Alexandra Blvd, Toronto Ontario. The intent of this design was to create a single family home that was functional for a very comfortable lifestyle. The family wanted an open concept ground floor plan and a private office study at the front to adhere to a stay at home work environment. The kitchen allows for a comfortable space and open concept for easy entertaining and accomodates four seats on the kitchen island.

The Little Creators Centre Nature Centre

By: Jaclyn Dyson

The intended use of this building is a children’s nature center. I created a futuristic and modern style building to inspire young children’s thoughts and imaginations when they spent time in the building learning. The building is abnormally tall for just consisting of a ground level floor. The reason for this is because I did not want the trees to interfere with the direct sunlight that the solar panels needed on the roof. I wanted to place the building on the site where the trees would provide the mostprivacy away from the busy streets to create a “one with nature feel”.
