A group project on designing an identity for the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. (TRAI)

The identity here through the use of form and space becomes a telephone. This is a depiction of the earlier landlines, why we use this is to signify authority (the receiver being placed on the rest of the body), bold and regulation through use of graphic, bold typeface stronger elements, and of course a contemporary feel which is brought out with the treatment on the identity even thought we depict a classic telephone. The classic telephone here stands to symbolize communication, and a body which not only oversees but controls its application across the country.

The identity is in the form of the basic through and peaks of sound, voice, vibration which is the beginning to all communication. It stands for wavelength and controlled flow of communication through a medium. The various ups and downs graphically represents TRAI and the last element, the “I� serves as the end point, the controlling authority, regulation body which oversees the rest. Use of bold, well spaced type, keeping in mind for the final application. Also being the final decision making body, the identity gives a feel of authority, yet maintaining its grace in the concept of communication and flow of information.

A hypothetical project based on if Nike comes up with its condom brand. The design is based on the market research learning about cunsumer behaviour, competitor brands and various existing packaging. The sub brand’s name is Nike Play based on nike’s own values and attributes like playful, sporty, young ,energetic and pleasure.

The product is a three condom disposable pack, it is designed such that it is easily carriable, protective and environmental friendly. It is provided with small wallets which can keep the used condoms, tear it and disposed in the same pack.

Zingy is a brand for pickle. Zingy is young, modern, fresh and completely devoted to provide the awesome authentic regional made pickle. Competitor being Mother Recipe. Target people are from age 18 to 30 yrs. Zingy focus on providing the awesome taste that will remind home-made food. Pickles are divided into 3 main taste Spicy, Sour/Tangy and Sweet. That way consumer can easily identify the different types of pickle.

jubl8 is a concept app developed for the Samsung Smart TV. The idea behind the application is one of celebration. Indians are family oriented people, and so is watching TV a family oriented. Having a packed calender full of festivals, events and birthdays, Indians are socially packed all year long. Use the application to plan birthdays, anniversaries, events and even send greeting cards on special occasions.

typography logotype exploration A classroom project on exploring basic typography. The exercise was to take various characteristics and qualities of a friend and then interpret to typographic elements. The final logotype (top) contains the characteristics of well build, precision, straight, tall. I have used basic shapes to gives its precision, no hollow in letters to make the forms look heavy, combination of small caps and small letters to have a balance.

corporate identity A classroom project on exploring the identity of a brand. The exercise is to take an existing brand identity and redesign keeping the same ideology of the brand. I have choosen the brand “CONVERSE”.

This is the first alternative identity. Attributes being the playful, youth, music and sporty. Use of bright colors and dynamic shapes depict the playful and youthfulness. And use of serif font for the bolder look.

This is the second alternative identity. Attributes being the proud of being owning, unisex, and style. Use of basic shape circle to denote the proud, the pride of using the brand, use the arrow to denote the importance of both the sex group and also signify coming together. Also forming the form of “V”.

My name is Jacky Singh, from Manipur. Currently studying at MIT Institute of Design, Pune for Post Graduate Diploma in Graphic Design after I graduated in B.Com. Seriously engage to design since 2008 when I finally realised this is what I really love to do. My passion for kinetic typography lead me to take graphic design to a new level as a Motion Design, besides the print and web-based media, including logos, brochures and stationery. I have passion for learning more while creating designs. I’m constantly improving and developing my skills and abilities, and I will not hide that I like to set goals and necessarily pursue them.
