Market Street Vaping opens in downtown Paxton - Paxton Record
PAXTON Steve and Merry Symmonds both smoked cigarettes. They both tried and tried to quit. We both tried all the replacement therapies there are. None of them worked, 59-year-old Steve Symmonds said. Then a friend recommended vaping. He told us what to buy, Steve Symmonds said, because we knew nothing. Vaping finally worked. The couple from Bayles Lake havent completely kicked the habit Were 98 percent quit, Steve Symmonds said but each is down to only two cigarettes per day, a far cry from the two packs each had been consuming daily. It was September when they got their first vapes, they said. Now, they are practically experts in the vaping world, starting their own shop Market Street Vaping out of a downtown Paxton storefront in November. Being retired and not having much else to do, we thought wed try to help other people, Steve Symmonds said. Market Street Vaping, 148 N. Market St., is more of a hobby than a job for Steve Symmonds and his 46-year-old wife. I got bored, he admitted. But it is a welcome change for Steve Symmonds, who had worked in the plastics industry (injection molding) for most of his adult life, and most recently worked as a counselor at Cunningham Childrens Home in Urbana. The Symmonds new business caters to the customer if there is a vape or flavor of vaping juice one cant find there, hell order it. Currently, there are 14 models of vaporizers in stock, with more than 200 flavors of juice. The cost of a vape runs from $14.95 to $149.95, while the cost is $12.50 for 15 milliliters of premium juice and $22 for 30 milliliters of premium juice. The house juice, meanwhile, is currently on sale for $5 for 10 milliliters, $8 for 20 milliliters and $10 for 30 milliliters. Tanks accessories used to store the juice cost anywhere from $14 to $40. There are also rebuildable atomizers, more commonly referred to as RBAs, that are basically a tank with a rebuildable coil, Steve Symmonds said. RBAs cost $11.95.
There are also rebuildable dripping atomizers (RDAs), which he said are all the rage best vaporizers now. Other accessories include batteries and wire for people to build their own vaping devices. Market Street Vaping features a lounge in the rear of the store, featuring cable television and free coffee, where people can relax as they vape. Market Street Vaping is open from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The business can be reached at 217-298-2085. Its website is www.marketstreetvape.com.
