WHAT IS PYTHAGOREANISM?

Pythagoreanism is a belief held by Pythagoras and his followers, the pythagoreans. It is a belief intended or likely to be understood by people who have specialized knowledge or interest. It was originated in the 5th Century BC. It influences Platonism a lot.

A challenge Question before we start • Will the formula of A2 + B2 = C2 work for an obtuse triangle or an acute triangle?

Yes

No

You Got it Wrong. Try Again...

You Got it Right! But... • If it doesn’t work, what should you change for each formula?

Acute: A2 x B2 > C2 Obtuse: A2 x B2 < C2

Acute: A2 x B2 < C2 Obtuse: A2 x B2 > C2

Great! You’ve passed the Challenge Question

• Now, to be able to open the next slide, you need a password. Hint: It is the formula to find the hypothenuse of a right triangle. Password Entry

I’M JUST KIDDING~ I don’t know how to put a password...

So here is a short Video about Pythagorean Theorem

She talks really fast. You’ll probably remember her from her math doodling video.

Here Is a Step-byStep Picture

A QUESTION TO SOLVE 3

?

4 A right angle has 3 units high, and 4 units wide. What is the length of the hypotenuse? Use the A2 + B2 = C2

Solution

3

5

• So, the length of the leg in the right triangle is 3 units and 4 units. • Applying A2 + B2 = C2

• (3x3) + (4x4) = 25 4 THIS IS CALLED A • √25 = 5 Pythagorean Triples. 3,4 and 5. They are three consecutive

Now Try to Solve This Find The Length Of The Diagonal Line 2cm Solution: (2x2) + (2x2) =8 √8 = 2.8 2.8 x 5 = 14

The Size of the square are all the same
