Welcome! No matter what travel guidelines are in place, you can still enjoy the year-round natural beauty, history, arts and music, and the small-city sophistication that defines Charlottesville. Our local businesses and venues have creatively shifted many of their offerings online, from virtual art exhibits and streaming concerts to online shopping, tastings and take-out dining. Buying local has never been more important, and we hope you will join us in supporting all of those who’ve joined us in creating this publication. Each year, we poll our Charlottesville Welcome Book readers, locals and tourists about their favorite local businesses that exemplify wonderful customer service, from delicious restaurants, amazing boutiques and hot spots to wonderful resorts and awe-inspiring historical landmarks — and everything in between! Watch for the Welcome Book Winner logo on websites and in shop windows, and go to to get the insider’s scoop on the best of everything our town has to offer, regardless of whether you are a newcomer to town or a virtual visitor. All of the award winners are also highlighted in a special digital edition online, along with plenty of reader’s tips that will put you “in the know.” In a continued effort to support local businesses, this issue includes practical and entertaining things you can do at home, and NEW video links on ads and in editorial sections for more interactivity. On pages 24–31, you will find four tastings maps with markers for all of the area’s breweries, cideries, distilleries and wineries surrounding Charlottesville. Right now, many are offering curbside pick-up, online ordering and virtual tastings. Throughout the year, we provide lots of timely content that also supports local on our Facebook page at, so be sure to like and follow us. Welcome to . . .
