La cantoria lignea (fig. 44) restaurata dall’IVBC nel 2011 si trova sulla parte destra del presbiterio della chiesa dei Gesuati. Essa è costituita da tre fasce sovrapposte: nella sezione inferiore si trova una porta fiancheggiata da due finestre; in quella centrale è posto il ballatoio dove si disponevano i cantori; in quella superiore vi è un fornice centrale decorato ai lati da pannelli lignei in rilievo.
The wooden choir balcony (fig. 44) restored by the IVBC in 2011 is located on the right-hand side of the chancel of the Gesuati Church. It consists of three overlapping bands: in the lower section, there is a door flanked by two windows; in the central part, there is the balcony where singers sang; on top, there is an arch in the centre flanked by wooden carved panels at the sides.
L’intera struttura della cantoria è abbellita da intagli di gran valore tecnico eseguiti da Bortolo Ceroni nel 1741. I bassorilievi lignei della sezione superiore ripropongono il tema della musica con composizioni di strumenti quali cembali, zampogne pastorali a sette canne, flauti e trombe. Le decorazioni del ballatoio consistono invece di elementi fitomorfi e conchiglie sistemati su ghirlande festonate. Al di sopra del vano centinato, fa mostra di sé uno stemma con rose (emblema mariano), che rappresenta al centro un cane che regge in bocca una fiaccola, simbolo di san Domenico (fig. 43).
The entire structure of the choir balcony is adorned with carvings of great technical value realized by Bortolo Ceroni in 1741. The wooden bas-reliefs on the upper part are dedicated to music with compositions of instruments such as cymbals, seven-reed pastoral pipes, flutes and trumpets. The decorations of the balcony consist of phytomorphic elements and shells laid out in festooned garlands. Above the arch is a coat of arms with roses (Mary’s emblem) which includes a dog holding a torch in its mouth, symbol of St. Dominique (fig. 43).
