The Austro-Hungarian Empire ruled in the Boka for more than a hundred years. Boka was an important strategic and tactical location for the Empire, therefore the Empire left an enormous legacy of fortification architecture in the region.
Fort Kosmač was mountain pass blocking fortress that was a part of the extended defense system of Budva, which was the most southern point of the Empire at the time. This book describes and analyses the current situation of this monument on the coast of Montenegro. Through the reconstructed timeline an interesting story envelops, making the fort valuable as a cultural and architectural monument. After a detailed analysis of the ruin and its surroundings the conservation and a rehabilitation proposal aims to achieve a sustainable valorization strategy.
