the World’s 5 Best Airports Ah airports, the gateway to our dream destinations! But they can be quite intolerable if their services aren’t up to the mark. Long queues, lack of amenities and cleanliness, and poor services can really kill the joy of traveling. Thankfully, we can always find out the best of airports and plan our travels accordingly, especially when long layovers are concerned. British consumer aviation website, Skytrax conducts an annual survey of millions of flyers to determine and award the best airports in the world. Their survey results for 2018 were out a just a few weeks back and here are this year’s top five airports. And they are all from Asia!

Changi Airport, Singapore

Is it any surprise to see Singapore’s Changi Airport on the top spot? For six years in a row, this airport has been voted as the best in the world by Skytrax World Airport Awards. And just when you think, Changi Airport can’t get any better, it surprises you with a range of facilities and services you couldn’t have even imagined. Architecturally, the airport is a masterpiece, beautifully fusing nature and design. With a rooftop pool with jacuzzi, a multitude of gardens, a movie theatre, an Xbox 260 station, and a plethora of dining and shopping options, it’s impossible not to fall in love with this airport. In fact, we’d suggest you come to the airport a couple of hours early just that so you can truly enjoy and appreciate it.

Incheon International Airport, Seoul (South Korea)

Much like Changi Airport, South Korea’s Incheon International Airport has been consistently wowing travelers. Located on an island just outside of Seoul, this airport has been continuously striving to improve its safety and service through 48-point service improvement measures. This thoughtfully designed airport features capsule hotels, play and rest areas for children, an indoor skating rink, a spa, a museum and a ‘Culture Street’ where you can enjoy local cuisine and dance performances. With over 57 million passengers passing through every year, Incheon Airport will soon expand its facilities with the aim of doubling its capacity to 100 million passengers annually and provide high-tech services.

Tokyo Haneda Airport, Toyko (Japan)

One of Tokyo’s two airports, at Tokyo Haneda Airport you can experience Japanese efficiency at its best. Despite more 80 million passengers coming to this airport annually, it provides astonishingly meticulous service with a simple process for both departing and arriving passengers and is spotlessly clean. For business travelers in a hurry, there are excellent showers and luggage storage facilities as well as a transit hotel. With the 2020 Olympic Games just a couple of years away, the airport is gearing up to handle the influx of travelers without compromising on its reputed efficiency and services.

Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong

Since it opened in 1998, Hong Kong International Airport has been a favorite of travelers. Built on an artificial island off the coast of Hong Kong, this airport is not only among the busiest in Asia but also serves as home to airlines like Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Airlines, and Dragonair. As for entertainment, you can watch a movie at IMAX, play golf at GreenLive Air — an indoor golf club, fly into the world of aviation at the fantastic Aviation Discovery Center, dig into local cuisine, get a spa, and of course, shop. If you’re sleepy, the airport has comfy nap rooms. The airport’s hotel, Regal Airport Hotel, too has been consistently ranked as one of the world’s best by Skytrax.

Hamad International Airport, Doha (Qatar)

Opened for business in 2014, Doha’s swanky new Hamad International Airport is described by Skytrax as “the most architecturally significant terminal complex in the world, as well as being the most luxurious”. Clearly, it has wow written all over it. So, what makes this airport so awesome? Well, it’s because Hamad International Airport is more like a luxurious resort from where flights happen to take off and land! After all, this is an airport where you can play squash and swim with a pool with runway views, drink coffee from gold-plated kiosks, and stay in a lavish presidential suite!
