2 Art of Oceania Cruises

Recognized Worldwide for Excellence

For the new ships Marina and Riviera, Oceania Cruises founders Frank Del Rio and Bob Binder spent years amassing a world-class art collection, the scale of which has never before been seen at sea.  On the cover: Piazza San Marco by Michal Zaborowski,

2008, oil on canvas, onboard Riviera

THE WORLD IS YOUR PALETTE A spectacular array of diverse and exotic destinations, the world is a palette of colors, brought together by the ships of Oceania Cruises in a collection of brilliantly crafted itineraries. As our ships are comfortably mid-size, they can call on a unique blend of destinations, from iconic cities to charming boutique ports, presenting each in its very best light. As you travel to the next vibrant port of call, relax onboard and savor the finest cuisine at sea, inspired by the renowned Master Chef Jacques PĂŠpin.

MASTERFUL DESIGN From the luxurious furnishings of Regatta and Nautica to the Grand Staircase adorned in Lalique crystal on Marina and Riviera, the onboard ambiance exudes style and artistry. When designing Marina and Riviera, the founders of Oceania Cruises knew that the art collection onboard must do justice to the artful elegance of the ships. Thus, around any given corner you can find a brilliant work by Picasso or a treasure from an exciting new artist. From the itineraries to the cuisine to the ships themselves, a voyage with Oceania Cruises is truly a masterpiece.

Oceania Cruises founders Frank Del Rio and Bob Binder give new meaning to the term “hands-on.” When building the line’s two new ships, Marina and Riviera, they were directly involved in every step of the process, from the initial design to the selection of furnishings to perhaps the grandest undertaking of them all: amassing the entire art collection for both ships. Marina and her sister ship, Riviera, were designed to eschew the common look of a cruise ship. Instead, Del Rio and Binder wanted to create the feel of a luxurious private home. When it came to the artwork, they hoped to assemble a collection such as that which a private collector might acquire over a period of decades. “We weren’t just looking for background music,” Del Rio says. “We wanted pieces that were bold and interesting, pieces that made a statement, provoked conversation and inspired emotion – evoking the same visceral reaction as the ships themselves.”

ABOVE CLOCKWISE FROM LEFT:

Del Rio and Binder visited galleries, art shows and auctions across the globe. Some pieces were purchased directly from the artists, and several pieces were commissioned from artists as well. The resulting collection is a diverse assortment of masterpieces from renowned names like Picasso and Miró as well as gems from emerging artists such as Li Dominguez Fong and Carlos Luna. Spanning eras and genres, the works represent an international array of artistic talent, from the 19th century nautical art of Thomas Buttersworth to the modern pop art of Robert Mars. The scale of the collection has never before been seen at sea. At any given moment onboard the ships, guests can be found gazing at a sculpture or discussing the merits of a painting. Binder and Del Rio clearly achieved their goal of creating a collection that would evoke strong reactions and generate conversation. They also succeeded in creating an utterly unique experience: cruises that allow guests to visit a worldclass museum without ever disembarking the ship.

Taste the finest cuisine at sea Boldly claiming to serve “the finest cuisine at sea” might seem to be an overstatement. But we wouldn’t make such an immodest assertion if not for the tremendous contribution of the legendary Master Chef Jacques Pépin. As our Executive Culinary Director, he inspires our chefs to perform feats of gastronomic wizardry. Memorable dining begins with open-seating, as it allows you to dine when you are ready and with whomever you choose. Regardless of which of our restaurants you select, there are no additional dining charges.

“Food, for me, is inseparable from sharing. There is no great meal unless it is shared with family or friends.”

M u ltipl e o p en-Sea ti ng Di n i n g Ve n u e s F o r Bre ak f a st , Lunch And Dinner, At N o A d diti o n al Ch arge

Continental cuisine, savory Canyon Ranch® selections and Jacques Pépin’s signature dishes are served in an elegant ambiance inspired by Europe’s five-star hotel restaurants.

With all the elements of a classic steakhouse, from filet mignon to New York strip, Polo Grill also has equally appealing options for seafood lovers, such as whole Maine lobster.

Enjoy family recipes handed down through generations. Presented on elegant Versace china, each dish is a masterpiece that exemplifies the essence of Tuscany.

Comfortable and eclectic, the ambiance is pure French, as is the wonderfully embraceable cuisine. Luscious aromas waft from the gleaming show rotisserie, where chicken, duck, pork, rib and veal roasts slowly turn. Each dish is a classic, ingeniously interpreted by Master Chef Pépin.

With a nod to feng shui, Red Ginger radiates harmony and tranquility. The interior simply glows with ebony woods, a dramatic waterfall wall and striking, modern Asian artworks. Red Ginger’s chefs have created contemporary interpretations of Asian classics. In Red Ginger, the culinary pleasures are as striking as the visual ones.

Dine indoors or alfresco as the menu of international dishes changes daily. Savor grilled lobster tails, jumbo shrimp, hand-cut steaks and chops, a sushi bar and fresh pastas.

Chefs grill gourmet burgers, tangy barbecue and succulent seafood to order, with sides including fresh salads and hand-cut truffle fries dusted with grated aged parmesan. For dessert try a creamy homemade gelato or a thick hand-dipped milkshake.

Teatime is a celebratory daily event at four o’clock in the afternoon. With a classical string quartet softly playing, our staff glides through the room presenting four-tiered carts filled with finger sandwiches, petits fours, scones, exquisite desserts and a selection of artisanal teas.

Designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Robinson Crusoe Island is home to the Magellanic penguin, Juan Fernandez fur seal and the critically endangered Juan Fernandez firecrown hummingbird Gain insight into the culture and history of the Rapa Nui, inhabitants of Easter Island for 1,700 years Admire the ancient Polynesian petroglyphs of Down Rope, a cliff on an isolated sandy beach near Adamstown Enjoy an up-close look at Bora Bora’s world-famous marine life from the comfort of a glass-bottomed boat

South Pacific T H E E X O T I C A N D T H E E XT R A O R D I N A R Y Rarely do you have the chance to experience a unique blend of mystery, natural wonders and pure bliss. The legend of castaway Alexander Selkirk, who was marooned in 1704 for four years on what is now Robinson Crusoe Island, became the inspiration for the classic Daniel Defoe novel. On remote Easter Island, the giant stone statues with unwavering expressions are a testament to a civilization that has long been lost to history. The voice of Fletcher Christian of Mutiny on the Bounty fame still echoes in Adamstown, while stunning lagoons, soaring peaks and the seafaring bravado of the ancient Polynesians all come together in Bora Bora, Fakarava and Papeete.

Oceania Cruises recommends that all guests visit the U.S. Department of State’s web site at http://travel.state.gov to obtain information concerning the status of any advisories or warnings issued to travelers for specific countries around the world. Cruise Documents | All final cruise documents and other arrangements made by Oceania Cruises on behalf of the guest(s) will be sent to the designated travel agency or directly to the guest approximately 21 days prior to sail date. For evening dining, elegant casual resort wear is suggested. We request that jeans, shorts, t-shirts or tennis shoes not be worn at dinner. Boarding | Guests are required to be onboard the vessel at least two hours prior to the scheduled departure time. Should the (in)actions of any guest(s) result in the vessel not sailing at its scheduled departure time, Oceania Cruises shall assess Late Departure Fees, beginning at $1,000 per guest, to said guest(s) directly responsible for any departure that is delayed more than 15 minutes beyond

the scheduled and published departure time, to cover the costs levied against Oceania Cruises by port authorities, governmental and quasi-governmental agencies as agreed and liquidated damages. Smoking | For the safety and security of all guests and staff onboard, Designated Smoking Areas are available on the forward, starboard corner of the Pool Deck and in the aft, port corner of Horizons. These areas are comfortably furnished and conveniently located near food and beverage areas. Smoking is expressly forbidden in all staterooms and suites, on verandas, or in any areas of the ship other than officially Designated Smoking Areas. Smoking in a stateroom or suite or on a veranda represents a serious fire and safety hazard to all guests and staff. Guests choosing to disregard this policy will be disembarked at the next port of call and may also be subject to additional fees that will be imposed to cover the costs associated with any damage to and the required cleaning of furnishings, verandas and surrounding deck and accommodation areas. All areas other than those specified as Designated Smoking Areas will remain smoke-free. This includes all guest suites and staterooms, verandas, restaurants, public areas, the Casino and all other areas of the ship. Cigar and pipe smoking is only permitted on the forward, starboard corner of the Pool Deck. Medical Services | Each of our vessels is equipped with limited medical facilities and staffed by internationally accredited medical personnel. Customary Emergency Room fees and charges do apply for medical services and are dictated by the services performed by the ship’s medical staff. Guests with any medical condition(s) or special needs that may require treatment or attention or accommodation during the voyage, or needing to travel with medical apparatus, including wheelchairs, motorized scooters, oxygen therapy, etc., must advise Oceania Cruises in writing at time of deposit. Please note some ports of call may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility and in such cases, may preclude debarkation for any individual with limited mobility, with or without the aid of a wheelchair or motorized scooter. Oceania Cruises has the right to refuse or revoke passage to anyone who, in its judgment, is in a physical, mental or emotional condition unfit for travel or whose comfort onboard may be compromised due to situations beyond the care that can be provided by Oceania Cruises. Alcohol Policy | The sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages will be limited to guests aged 21 years or older. Oceania Cruises will refuse and prohibits the sale or service of alcoholic beverages to guests under the age of 21 years. Guests are kindly reminded to consume alcohol in moderation. Oceania Cruises reserves the right to prohibit and retain all alcohol bought ashore for consumption onboard the vessel. Gratuities | How much you choose to tip is a personal matter and completely at your discretion. For your convenience the following gratuities are automatically added to your shipboard account. For guests occupying staterooms, gratuities of $15.00 per guest, per day will be added. For guests occupying Penthouse, Oceania, Vista or Owner’s Suites where Butler Service is provided, gratuities of $22.00 per guest, per day will be added. In addition, an 18% service gratuity is automatically added to all beverage purchases, spa services and dinner at La Reserve. Naturally, guests may adjust gratuities while onboard the vessel at their sole discretion. Acts of Nature, Strike, or Other Conditions Beyond Control | Neither Oceania Cruises nor the owners or operators of the vessels identified in this brochure shall be liable for delay or inability to perform any condition in this brochure or any part thereof, caused by or arising out of strikes, lockout or labor difficulties or shortages, whether or not Oceania Cruises is a party thereto or to any other acts of nature, force majeure or other circumstances beyond the control of Oceania Cruises. For Profit Entity | Notwithstanding that Oceania Cruises, at the guest’s option, arranges air transportation, hotel accommodations, ground transfers, shore excursions and other services with independent suppliers of the services, it should be understood that Oceania Cruises, being a “for profit entity,” earns a profit on the sale of optional services. Sellers of Travel Laws | Oceania Cruises has obtained exemption from the Sellers of Travel Laws of Florida, California and other similarly situated jurisdictions based upon its status as a common carrier/ocean carrier.
