Our World is now changing alot. Climate change, ice caps are melting. but this article is about ocean pollution. After reading this please try to help our world so we can live in a better world

Causes When people bring thier boat out to sea the boat lets out some gasoline and into the ocean. These days people use boats for so many things that is not necessary, so one way to help is to use boats for important things. When you drive your car it also affects ocean pollution but its not really obvious like the others. when you drive a car the smoke from the car rises up to the sky into the clouds and then rains, it rains poison rain into the ocean and causes ocean pollution. Waste water from our kitchens and bathrooms are also causing ocean pollution.

Over Fishing

Pesticide and fertilisers

Pollution from factory

Agriculture - The run off of pesticides and fertilisers Industry - effluent from factories and power stations Sea transport - especially oil tankers Overfishing - a type of pollution as it damages the environment Domestic waste - sewage from settlements

Oil Leak

Domestic waste

How does this affect us and other animals? This can also cause problems for us, it can quickly pass through our food chain, and into the seafood we eat. It has affect on our health, it can cause low IQ slow growth and hearing problems especially small children. it decreases the fish population. it will quickly go through our food chain and into our food (seafood).

History Although marine pollution has a long history, significant international laws to counter it were enacted in the twentieth century. Marine pollution was a concern during several United Nations Conferences on the Law of the Sea beginning in the 1950s. Scientists say that the oceans are huge that they could not clean, the harmless, pollution. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, there were people dumping radioactive waste into the coasts of the United States by companies licensed by the Atomic Energy Commission, into the Irish Sea from the British reprocessing facility at Windscale, and into the Mediterranean Sea by the French Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique. After the Mediterranean Sea controversy, for example, Jacques Cousteau became a worldwide figure in the campaign to stop marine pollution. Marine pollution made further international headlines after the 1967 crash of the oil tanker Torrey Canyon, and after the 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill off the coast of California. Marine pollution was a major issue during the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, held in Stockholm. That year also saw the signing of the Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping of Wastes and Other Matter, sometimes called the London Convention. The London Convention did not ban marine pollution, Cyanide and high-level radioactive waste, for example, were put on the black list. The London Convention applied only to waste dumped from ships.

Now What?? How Can We Help Our Planet?? we can help the world by going on boat trips for a good reason, don’t use cars for a short distance trip but instead walk or travel by bike. Dont use fertilizers for ur gardens in will end up in the ocean. Use less water for washing up because the waste water ll run into the ocean.
