Sixteen classic canines with their owners in tow showed up for the Landings first dog parade and judging on Eagles Point Circle January 14. Judges Bob Fernander and Sue Lewis stepped in on short notice to replace Keke Kahn who was called away to prepare for the Westminster Dog Show in February. Their task was made difficult by the high quality of well-behaved dogs. They did an
excellent job. Advance registration was not required so parade sponsors Bev and Katy Leidel had no idea how many would show up. There were nearly as many observers as participants and the event was enjoyed by all. The Landings is blessed by a great variety of “man’s best friend”. Katy held birthday and Christmas parties for her beloved cocker spaniel Dover when he
struggled with a terminal illness. During those parties, dog owners commented that a dog show would be grand. Every dog seemed to fully appreciate the show and each was at their best during judging. Many owners expressed the hope there will be similar events in the Landings in the future. The dogs wagged their tails to that!
