The main purpose of the association is to work toward continued freedom of the road by insuring that motorcyclist’s point of view is presented to our legislators and to promote motorcycle safety, rider education and public awareness. We are trying to alleviate the very real possibility of “Big Brother Government”. We encourage all our members to be informed registered voters. We write letters to our elected officials and stay aware of what is going on with motorcycle legislation, and other transportation issues. We welcome interested parties to any of our activities or to join our organization.

The Roads Are Ours—Let’s Protect Them Together

As the days get longer and the roar of engines returns to our roads, spring reminds us of the freedom we all ride for and the responsibility that comes with it. This season, the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association is hitting the ground running. We’ve recently filed key legislation that directly impacts riders across the Commonwealth, and we need you our members and our backbone to help us bring it to life.

From pushing for better protections for motorcyclists on the road, to working toward more complete and affordable riders’ education and more equitable infrastructure policies, the MMA is advocating where it counts: Beacon Hill. These aren’t just bills they’re a reflection of what our community stands for. But legislative progress doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It takes voices your voice to make lawmakers listen. Here's how you can get involved this season:

· Stay informed: Watch our website and social media for updates on the status of the bills we've filed.

· Reach out to your legislators: A call or email from a constituent goes further than you might think. We'll provide talking points and contact info to make it easy.

· Attend an MMA meeting or event: Whether it’s a ride, a rally, or a regional gathering, being present matters. Bring a friend: The louder we are, the stronger we are.

The roads are ours, but only if we work together to protect them. So as you gear up for your first rides of the season, take a moment to think not just about the journey ahead but the legacy we’re building for all riders in Massachusetts.

Sharing the Road with Motorcycles Tips that Every Driver should Know

1. Always check your blind spots

2. Be extra cautious when passing

3. Remember that motorcycles react more quickly than cars

4. Weather warning

Weather warning: bad weather has more drastic affects on motorcycle riders than it does on automobile drivers. Rain and winter weather in particular can make it almost impossible for motorcyclist to continue to travel. Windy conditions can make it difficult for motorcyclists to control their vehicle on the road. Also remember that weather conditions often reduce your own visibility and may cause motorcycles to be more difficult to see.

5. Night-riding can be treacherous for motorcyclists

6. Stay in your lane

7. Inform motorcyclists of your intention to turn

8. Intersections are danger zones

9. Watch for turning motorcycles Take a second look at left-turns For more detailed information please use this link (Source: https://driving-tests.org/beginner-drivers/sharing-the-road-with -motorcycles/)
