Bulldogs win first game of Season By Ernie Mayne
Bribie Island Bulldogs have won their first game of AFL football in a couple of seasons last Friday night against Jindalee scoring 8.9.57 to 3.4.22 in a classy well played team effort performance. Best players for Bribie were Tyler Gilmore, Joshua Bear, Darby Cody, Tate Gilmore and Cooper Jenkins. It is a new constituted competition against old established clubs from in and around Brisbane. The league consists of nine teams, which are Bribie Island, Springwood, Yeronga South Brisbane, Ipswich Cats, Ferny Grove, Coorparoo. Marcelin Old Boys, Jindalee and Aspley Hornets. The team has a fair bit of travelling to do this year, but are up to the challenge according to coach Damian Clarke and after the game I watched on ‘Friday night, he could be right. There are a few old heads in the team, but the bulk of the players are young and have plenty of oomph in them.
