Gita Jayanti Celebration It was on the 25th of December. I woke up early in the morning. It was Gita Jayanti, the day when Lord Krishna spoke Bhagavad Gita to Arjun. I got ready and went to the ISKCON temple, Gurugram, with my parents. When I reached the temple, I saw that already 100 devotees were sitting to read Bhagavad Gita. We read all the 700 Sanskrit shlokas together in just 2.5 hours. After we completed the reading of the holy book, the entire temple hall swung with ecstatic kirtan. As the kirtan was going on, the pujaris of the temple started with Gita Jayanti Maha-Yagya. The atmosphere became so pure that it's indescribable. While the fire sacrifice was going on, I clicked pictures of the beautiful fire sacrifice and the devotees chanting and dancing. After the fire sacrifice, all the devotees sat together to honor Ekadashi prasadam. The experience was very memorable and joyful.

Distribution Stories Arindam - While distributing Prabhupada books at the mall I met 3 youngsters. They were not interested to buy Bhagavad Gita from me because they thought it will not help in getting them a job. The job will only get us money but how to utilize that money and live our life nicely is taught in Bhagavad Gita. Unfortunately, people do not have this knowledge nor do they want to take it Keshav - I was distributing Bhagavad Gita and Krishna Book on Sohna Road Traffic light, Gurugram, with a team from ISKCON Gurugram. While distributing I met different kinds of people. Most of them were not in the favour of buying the Gita. Almost 50% of the people said that they already had Bhagavad Gita at their home, some were ignoring it, some were donating Laxmi. But with Krishna’s mercy, I was able to distribute 5 English Gita. First, there was an inhibition of selling Bhagavad Gita on the road. But when I saw everyone distributing Books I was inspired to distribute Gita too. It was such a memorable experience. Pranav - Once while distributing Bhagavad Gita I came across a couple who participated in a Gita quiz. One of the questions was in which scripture is the Bhagavad Gita spoken, they answered it as Ramayan. Ramayan and Mahabharat are our Indian history and culture and these days people are not much familiar with these. In schools, we are taught the history of European countries or of the Mughal invasions in India but our ancient and Vedic history is not taught. They are classified as mythology which is actually misleading.

Radhe Govind - While distributing, a person called me and asked what I was doing. I told him about the Bhagavad Gita marathon (Gita Jayanti) And after I told him he said that he would buy a Hindi Bhagavad Gita he took the Gita and kept it in his jacket. Actually a little while ago only a person on a bike had taken a Bhagavad Gita from a devotee and run away with it. So I was worried and prayed to Srila Prabhupada. To my relief, that man gave me the money immediately. It was my first Bhagavad Gita distributed that day and I was very grateful to Srila Prabhupada.

Arjun - While trying to distribute Bhagavad Gita I happen to talk to my friend's mom and told her if she would like to buy or sponsor Bhagavad Gita. She said that she would rather donate warm clothes to old age home people than donating a book. So I told her that donating clothes is a good idea but this book brings transcendental knowledge to us and helps us understand why we are suffering. Bhagavad Gita is the book of eternal wisdom that helps us to improve our consciousness so that we can not only improve this life but also our next life. Then she donated 5 books

Upakhyane Upadesha A family for the Gita

Moral of the Story An honest devotee must be careful. He must not fall under the clutches of illusory energy while pretending to acquire favorable objects for devotional services to Sri Hari. It is, therefore, most essential to pray for the mercy of pure devotees, constantly keeping ourselves in their uncontaminated association with complete loyalty & allegiance.
