MESSAGE FROM DEON VILJOEN
Southern Sun: creating memories, sharing stories being, and connect again with those who are most precious to you. So, as you read, you might begin to glimpse an array of possibilities opening up to you. These are the beckonings of the future, of stories that are as yet untold but which, in time, could be the ones you will be telling when you look back and reflect on the road you have travelled. A glorious evening walk with your spouse or partner. An adventure with your children that will stay with you forever. A terrific festivity with friends that, in memory, will last a lifetime.
Message from Deon Viljoen, Director of Operations: Southern Sun Lifestyle Resorts As your managing agent, I am delighted to welcome you to our SunSwop Resort Directory for 2012. I invite you in the year ahead to make Southern Sun Lifestyle Resorts as much a partner in your journey as you are in ours. This resort directory is my invitation card to you, and in its pages you will discover a host of information to guide your forward planning. At Southern Sun Lifestyle Resorts, we are passionate in heart and hand, in thought and deed. And what we do – through the excellence of our resorts, our service and facilities – is to create memories for you to cherish and stories to share and celebrate. There is one storyteller in particular who fascinates me. No one is sure when or where he was born, or if he ever existed at all; even the correct spelling of his name is a mystery. But his wit and wisdom have been passed down through the ages, and are as relevant now as they were in the thirteenth century. He was Nasrudin, a fabled storyteller and philosopher in the Middle East. One day, so legend has it, he was travelling by donkey to a neighbouring village when, in the distance, he saw a band of people heading down the road in his direction. Not one to take chances, he took the donkey off the road and set out on foot into a nearby rockery to look for a hiding place. He found himself in a cemetery. A grave lay open, and he crept into it to wait motionless until the other travellers passed by. They, in turn, noticed the fully-laden donkey standing at the roadside, and, concerned that its
rider had come to grief, mounted a search of the area. Before long the travellers located him, and gathered around to peer into the grave’s darkness. One of them called out in surprise: “Nasrudin? Is that you?” A voice came back: yes, it is I. “Well, what on earth are you doing down there?” Caught out in his foolishness but ever the philosopher, Nasrudin delivered his reply. “I am here,” he said, “because you are here. And you are here because I am here.” It was certainly a stylish come-back, but Nasrudin was doing more than just referring to the literal events that brought him and his fellow travellers together. He was making a larger point. Our journeys are always interconnected; our lives are shaped by our interdependence on each other. Alone and fearful in his hidingplace, Nasrudin thought he was surrounded by strangers. Yet when he looked up again, he saw a human community waiting to extend the helping hand of friendship. We at Southern Sun Lifestyle Resorts are here because you, our valued guests, are here; and you are here because we are here. Together we go forward, creating memories, sharing stories, and becoming the best that we can be. So enjoy this resort directory. It’s our invitation card to you – and it comes with a handshake.
We’d love to hear your favourite timeshare stories. Please e-mail them to shirleye@southernsun.com. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

Smoother, smarter, stronger: go soaring with SunSwop listen, we innovate, and we strive for excellence. We want you to soar with SunSwop. As we enter our fourth year of operation, you can take pride in the numerous enhancements we have brought to your exchange service. Together, they enable you to be flexibly strategic in the way you manage your timeshare portfolio and leverage it to get the vacations you want when you want them.
Message From Peter Pienaar, General Manager: SunSwop Welcome to SunSwop, the number one exchange provider that caters specifically for your needs as a timeshare owner at Southern Sun Lifestyle Resorts. Year in and year out, our statistics show that we are steadfastly on track with this, our central mission: to deliver outstanding service and make it smooth and fuss-free for you to exchange your timeshare back into our award-winning resorts. In 2011, these resorts once again received impressive scores in the E-Guest Survey, an independent facility for monitoring our service levels. For the same period, more than 90% of exchanges were within the Southern Sun family; in a good many of them, owners in fact exchanged back into their home resorts in weeks that were more convenient for them. But we do more than ensure your ease of access and movement. Along with our global exchange partner, Interval International, we believe in open communication with our members. We

Rewards for early deposits We introduced a reward system for early timeshare deposits with us. If you deposit your timeshare four months or longer before occupation date, you receive an extra 10% in bonus points on your normal trading points. The more points you accumulate, the stronger your bargaining power. Extended lifespan for deposits In the past, when you deposited your timeshare, it lasted for the current year plus one additional year; if you did not make an exchange against it in that time, it lapsed. Now you have current plus two additional years in which to make exchanges. This gives you more time to make decisions; if you have deposited other timeshare, it also allows you to build up your points – and lets this stockpile last longer. Innovative split-week deposits We provide a unique facility in South Africa’s fixed-ownership timeshare exchange sector. When you transact with us, you are no longer required to deposit your entire week. You can choose which portion of it you wish to use personally and which you want to deposit for exchanges. For instance, if you’re able to occupy your timeshare only at the weekend, you now have the option to deposit the midweek component,
or vice versa. In the past, you would either have attempted to rent out the unused portion – or let the unit stand vacant. Split-week deposits ensure that you get full value from your timeshare even if you don’t occupy it for the entire week. Depositing selected external timeshare SunSwop is exclusively for Southern Sun owners. Traditionally this has meant that you could deposit only Southern Sun timeshare with us. But we are expanding this arrangement to allow you to deposit external timeshare from selected resorts in this directory. If you own at both Southern Sun and non-Southern Sun resorts (and if the latter resort is selected), the great advantage is that you can consolidate your deposits under one roof at SunSwop. Not only will you enjoy one-stop-shop convenience; you’ll also be able to bulk up the muscle-power of your trading points. These exciting developments are still in progress, and we will be notifying you as new resorts are included under our expansion programme. In the meantime, please contact our call-centre for updated information. Online reservation system Members can transact online for all local exchanges. Kindly visit www.suntimeshare.co.za, and feel free to contact our call-centre if you need assistance. Last but not least … We are proud to announce that, despite the numerous enhancements to our service, one key thing has not changed. For the fourth year running, our exchange fees remain the same as they were when we launched in 2009. The fee this year is once more a budgetfriendly R395 for exchanges to Southern Sun Lifestyle Resorts, R699 to external resorts and R1460 to international resorts.

Remember that your levy will become payable when you deposit the week if its commencement date is more than 90 days away. If I own a week at a resort that is not a Southern Sun Lifestyle Resort, can I deposit it with SunSwop? We are currently working on a project that will allow you to deposit weeks with us from resorts which are not managed by Southern Sun Lifestyle Resorts. This will enable you to “bulk up” on your trading points with SunSwop because you can consolidate the points from your deposited Southern Sun Lifestyle Resorts’ weeks with the points you earned from deposits at other selected resorts. Contact our call centre to see if we will be able to accept the resort week you want to deposit. The number of points refunded would be determined as follows: • for exchanges cancelled up to 60 days prior to check-in date: 100% • 59 – 40 days prior to check-in date: 80% • 39 – 20 days prior to check-in date: 60% • 19 – 0 days before check-in date: 0% How do I go about requesting an international exchange? We recommend that you select a minimum of three resort destinations, as well as three different dates, to increase the likelihood of securing your accommodation request. We also recommend that you request your exchange holiday as far in advance as possible to ensure that we are able to secure the accommodation you want. How will I know which international resorts I can exchange into? Refer to your International Resort Directory from Interval International; alternatively, visit the website at www.intervalworld.com.

Trading Points guide
Saturday Resorts
Check-in dates for 2012 All of our Saturday check-in resorts (Umhlanga Sands Lifestyle Resort, Cabana Beach Lifestyle Resort, Beacon Island Lifestyle Resort and certain Drakensberg Sun Lifestyle Resort units) had a 53rd week in 2011, which will result in the start date for weeks in 2012 effectively being a week later than normal. Please be sure to check the start dates of your week for 2012 to ensure that you do not arrive in the incorrect week. Check your levy statement for dates or refer to www.suntimeshare.co.za for your specific resort calendar. Alternatively contact us on any of the numbers on page 32.
TRADING POINTS GUIDE To use your trading points you need to know the value of the week that you own. To find this, you would need to go to the relevant page in this directory which reflects the calendar and points value for the geographical region in which your resort is located. It is important that you know the week number and the size of the unit which you own. If, for example, you own a week at Umhlanga Sands, you would refer to the page which shows the values for the KZN North Coast region. RESORT
Umhlanga Sands Lifestyle Resort
OCC
Now refer to the calendar which shows the week numbers to determine the colour of the week owned for the particular year in which you wish to deposit your week, e.g. week 30 = Red for 2012. Take a look at the points table which shows your resort and look specifically for the full week value of a red week in the unit size which you own, e.g. if you own a 2 bedroom unit, the value of the week would be 6450 points.

To determine the value of the week into which you wish to exchange, you would use the same method, e.g.: • select the region in which the resort is situated • select the resort into which you wish to exchange • check the colour of the week into which you wish to exchange by using the regional calendar • select the unit size required E.g. if you wished to exchange into a 0/04 unit in week 20 (white week) at Umhlanga Sands, the value required for this exchange would be 3575 points. Please Note: The calendars and trading points provided throughout this directory were correct at the time of printing and subject to change without notice. ** Please note that some units cannot accommodate six adults. The unit might have sleeper couches that can only fit children 12 years and younger. Kindly confirm this with your call centre agent. The trading points received for depositing your week with SunSwop are valid for the current year, plus another year.
