Founded in 1946 Reorganized in 1990 Estonian Sports Association Jõud is a non-profit voluntary organization working in the public interests and directing its efforts at sports movement and providing better conditions for sports activities. The JÕUD is the national umbrella organization for sports associations of all the 15 counties of Estonia. The county associations unite 700 local clubs with 40 000 members daily taking part in activities.

Activities of organization

ESA JÕUD organizes and promotes on all territorial levels, sports events, championships, tournaments and competitions of all sports activities.

The JÕUD also organizes on national and regional level courses for sport leaders, trainers and volunteers.

The most important sports events organized by JÕUD are the Estonian Sports Summer and Winter Games which take place in every 4 years. In addition, every year summer and winter games of towns and parishes and different sports championships are organized.

Estonian Sports Association Jõud Activities of organization 

Every year we also organize championships for the members of our clubs. In 2011-2013 we have competitions in 35 different sports – athletics, mountain-bike cross-country, orienteering, swimming, volleyball, basketball, football, handball, floorball, judo, Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, female wrestling, sumo, weightlifting, kettlebell biathlon, shooting, compak sporting, tennis, table tennis, chess, draughts, petanque, tug-of-war, Nordic walking, fishing, quiz, bridge, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, ski-orienteering, biathlon, skating, ice hockey, ski jumping and motocross.

The XII Estonian Winter Games will take place in Võru from the 1-3 of March 2013 The XII Estonian Winter Games will be held under the auspices of the Estonian Olympic Committee The XII Estonian Winter Games will be organized by the Estonian Sports Association Jõud in cooperation with Võru Town Government, Võru County Sports Association and Võru Sports Centre The Estonian Winter Games are held every four years Events: cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, leaders race, ski-orienteering, biathlon, ice hockey, ski jumping, swimming, Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, female wrestling, motocross, basketball, table tennis, chess, draughts. The Winter Games are expected to have more than 3000 participants  15 counties  33 towns  194 parishes The Winter Games are international and open to all Parade and opening ceremony Cultural programme
