For the very first time the Conference is co-hosted by the ETTF and EOS. In this new collaboration we have tried to create the optimal conditions for strengthening the ties between hardwood producers and importers. Rasmussen Cabinet maker (a brand of Carl Hansen & Søn, internationally renowned Danish furniture maker). This exceptional workshop was founded in 1869 and is known particularly for their strong tradition for craftsmanship and timeless design. Danish design icons The workshop produces some of the finest wood furniture and Danish design icons from e.g. the renowned architects Mogens Koch and Kaare Klint. Cocktail Reception - Wednesday 16th September 19:00 The International Hardwood Conference opens with a cocktail reception for all participants in the heart of Copenhagen. Partners' Programme From Shakespeare myth to world famous author Thursday 17th September 09:45-16:30 Pick up in 71 Nyhavn Hotel by bus 09:45 Kronborg Castle – In Hamlet’s footsteps 11:00-12:00 Kronborg is famous worldwide as Elsinore Castle – the stage for William Shakespeare’s legendary play Hamlet. We will take a tour of the castle in the company of Hamlet’s friend Horatio, and hear the drama of Hamlet as it could have played out in the halls and corridors of the famous Renaissance castle. Lunch at Bolette’s Gæstebud kl. 12:30-14:00 The Karen Blixen Museum 14:30-15:15 We will visit the world famous author Karen Blixen’s private home Rungstedlund. Carl Hansen & Søn Carl Hansen & Søn is a Danish furniture company established in 1908. Carl Hansen & Søn is the company behind many classical furniture designs from the Danish modern movement, like e.g. Hans J. Wegner, Mogens Koch, Kaare Klint and Ole Wanscher. Carl Hansen & Søn also works with new furniture designers, e.g. Strand+Hvass who designs the furniture classics of tomorrow. The headquarter of Carl Hansen & Søn is placed near Odense on the island of Funen. Here the company has its main production facility. The company also has production at Tranekær on the island of Langeland and in Copenhagen at the Rud. Rasmussen furniture workshop. Today the company is lead by Knud Erik Hansen who is third generation after the first Hansen who founded the company more than 100 years ago.

Hvalsoe Sawmill Hvalsoe Sawmill is a Danish hardwood sawmill particularly known for its high quality vacuum dried white beech which is highly valued by the furniture industry. The sawmill also produce steamed beech which is distinguished by its uniform color. Hvalsoe Sawmill has strong contacts in Africa and is able to supply a wide range of African timber species, e.g. tali, iroko and padouk which are very suitable for outdoor use in the Danish climate. Apart from the production of sawn hardwood, Hvalsoe Sawmill is also certified by the authorities to produce heat treated packing material of wood. Hvalsoe Sawmill also supplies heat to the 1.400 households in the town of Hvalsø in the middle of the island Zealand. The sawmill was established in 1935 and is owned by Martin Nyrop-Larsen. The sawmill has 25 employees.


Orebo Orebo is a Danish manufacturer of furniture, handles and rolling pins and is an important subcontractor to several well known Danish furniture manufacturers. Orebo has been a professional hardwood company since 1890. The development and production of goods at Orebo thus rely on many years of experience and know-how. Having existed for more than 100 years, Orebo has a century long tradition for working with wood. Respect for nature The development and design of Orebo furniture and handles not only meet the customers’ tough demands on design and functionality. The furniture has also been designed with a deep respect for nature. And in great consideration of nature’s own rules. See the City from the sea Our guided tour around the harbour and through the idyllic canals will take you to some of Copenhagen’s best sights and attractions. We will pass beautiful churches, castles, old listed houses, new buildings and all other sights of interest. Exquisite food – Exquisite view With a view of the Palace Courtyard, the Riding Ground and the roofs of Copenhagen, the lunch is arranged in the restaurant ‘Taarnet’, the Tower of Christiansborg Palace, hosting the Danish Parliament. Bojesen and his staff serve modern Danish meals and the best of Danish confectioner’s art.
